Some further context:
Jordan and I have already brought this up with Freenode (around the
beginning of this year), and they've been on the case for some time. The
process that needs to occur in order for them to change Founder statuses is
for our community to reach consensus on who our Founders will be. Once we
do reach consensus, we will submit them our decision in writing and
ownership will be transferred thusly.
Eddan, if you are proposing a triumvirate rather than a sole Founder, it
would probably be best to reach out to Bill and Justin directly to ask if
they would be interested. We decided to go with Marc on the basis of him
being present and accepting [Jordan and I both declined].

jenny - i didn't mean to bring it up before you
sent your proposal. this
problem with freenode's policies failing to prevent harassment has come up
for almost a year now, it seems. we're probably not the only group of
people who don't have a traditional organizational structure using IRC to
communicate amongst the anti-surveillance digerati.
So will this guy Wooster please stand up?
Can you help us try and make freenode a relevant platform of communication
rather than the naked target practice feeling it has now?
Are there some non-Board nominees that can help make this crap stop?
Apparently, the problem is that the information warfare retaliation for
dealing with these buffoons is so intimidating that it's not such a fun
thing to volunteer to do. Marc is indeed extraordinarily savvy in computer
security, but he can't be the only one around, right?
I don't want to put Bill on the spot too much, but maybe between you
and Justin (klafka) we could at least designate someone if not one of the
two of you?

An IRC channel may have up to 4 founders, and as many ops as desired. We
discussed this for awhile at the meeting, and unanimously agreed to give
Marc foundership, at which point he can distribute op / foundership status
to another trusted member, who can then grant op/foundership status in turn.
Hopefully we can consense on this this week and have a final decision by
the next meeting. It's good you bring this up on the mailing list now, as I
was just about to do it. You're free to block this proposal and we can then
discuss an alternative at the next meeting.

Sorry I had to leave the meeting early - I missed
some of the things that
came up after I left. Just noticed in the minutes the IRC owner
announcement. I'm not on IRC much so I haven't followed the moderation
control developments since they'd been discussed earlier on. I don't
remember what we agreed on, but I do remember there being preference for a
distributed moderation solution.
- Can someone explain to me what it means that Marc should be 'the sole
founder of the IRC channel'?
4.5 extra bizness consensus motion: marc juul should be the sole founder
of our irc channel. 8 unanimous votes yes. 0 abstaining or voting nay. 5.
After- Meeting Teamups
Does this role also include final veto decision-making power over bans
and blocks on IRC?
Just trying to figure out what situations regarding the Board might pose
conflict of interest issues before they come up rather than after.

If you remember after last week's meeting we were anxious because we were
$800 behind on rent. Now we have $5500 and are officially a Public Benefit
Nonprofit Corporation.
Let us take a moment to meditate on this week and the efforts of our
members.
