Yeah, let's get one of those Summagraphics tablets at least, just to see how they work. I doubt we'd be able to get them to work without significant effort though. Hi all, This is the same stash that I emailed people about two weeks ago, and I can attest to the fact that is IS worth digging through! Lots of boxes with electrical components and fasteners. Here are the pics I took when I was there, including of the spot welder (!) and some large but older Summagraphics graphics tablets (18"x12" work area, 1000 lines/inch resolution): http://spaz.org/~jake/pix/hayhackers/ *I just got off the phone with John* - He's very busy with work the next couple of days, but he should be able to make a slot available *between 2 and 3pm tomorrow*. If nobody has a wagon or truck of some sort available, I'm willing to rent a U-Haul. I have dibs on the metal shelving for CCL - thinking of stacking those two high against the graffiti wall to deal with some of our chronic storage problems. And I believe Cere has dibs on a few cartons of round parabolic reflectors for an art project. So - anyone available 2pm tomorrow? This will probably be our last chance to get anything, because he's already been contacted by several people who want to come clear out the entire space, so he's pretty much doing this as a favor to a fellow hackerspace... *PLEASE SPEAK UP NOW*, if *anyone* actually want the boxes with electrical components! So far, I've yet to hear anyone say "yes, let's get those". I'm not interested in dragging in stuff that nobody wants! Most of them are fairly old - I'd guess 90's or so. The components are in smaller boxes of 50-100 each or so, inside larger cardboard boxes. Are there specific types we should pick up or avoid? Potentiometers and resistors YES; capacitors, SMDs and ancient ICs NO? How about the various mechanical fasteners, screws, standoffs, etc? There's a whole box with newer-looking 4700uF/16V caps, and a box full of large 2500uF/80VDC caps - skip? There are also 5-6 sturdy metal rolling cabinets like this one: WANT? Patrik

Great - a resounding vote from a notable non-hoarder! :-) We'll grab whatever we can, time and effort permitting. I believe John can only be there until 3, so it may depend on how many hands we have available to help... They also have boxes and boxes with old IR security equipment that is probably useless now. Very rudimentary 90's gear: just an IR LED and sensor on the inside. Came from a company making this stuff, so there's also boxes full of headlamp-type reflectors etc (not the pretty round ones Cere is interested in; just angular pieces of reflective plastic).
