Could we please restart the discussion to remove at least one, or both
vending machines that have been taking up an inordinate amount of space for
the past ~4 years?

I'm all for removing them. Where should they go? Do you think someone
on Craigslist would take them? Or Urban Ore if we moved them
ourselves?
I would like to transform that whole wall into a long countertop /
kitchenette with a sink, fridge and cabinets, microwave, coffee maker,
etc. We can bring plumbing through the basement easily. We can leave
space for a stove but it would be easier to get a permit without one.
I also want to remove all the walls from the "harry potter closet" and
replace the server loft staircase with a narrower one rotated 90
degrees, to open more room on that wall. David Keenan warned me this
might "ungrandfather" some of the room but I hope we can figure
something out as long as the replacement is a little bit improved.

Ooh - a kitchen sink would be a great addition! We really don't want people
to use our lab sink to clean dishes etc, but sending them to the restroom
sink for that always seems weird.
I wouldn't be so sure about being able to connect a drain through the
basement "easily" though. I suspect that might require a good amount of
breaking concrete. Worth getting a quote...

It is likely that if you leave them as "free" on the street they will
disappear, Oakland has a ton of scrap collectors.

I found someone who wants one of them. I will try to coordinate. I'm

i have some items in the vending machines and i would like to keep the right
one around a little longer and try to finish getting it working.
a bunch of work was put into it and it's basically ready to go so I'd like to
at least try it as a vending machine for a minute
then if we still don't want it we can at least sell it for more, since it has a
new lock cylinder, bill acceptor, etc...
