honestly Alice I think that before fixing anything else about it, the
radial arm saw needs THE POwER SWITCH to be working properly..
right now it starts fucking spinning as soon as it gets plugged in. That
could mean that while one person is preparing to use it, their friend
helpfully plugs it in and it starts cutting immediately. not safe!
the safety lock and trigger seem to physically move in the normal way, so
possibly it's an easy repair, but unfortunately i don't have time at the
moment. But it needs to be done ASAP, much more than a new platform is
needed.
it's a really cool tool but i would also be OK with you taking it back, it
takes up a lot of space already and i'm not sure if it's really
appropriate for sudoroom.

I am interested in 3/4" plywood scraps to make a
new table top for the
radial arm saw that is sitting in Sudo. The saw tabletop was made of
particle board originally and lasted for 30 years but due to lack of
interior space for tools it was used and stored outside for 8 years
under a tarp. I know how to manufacture it. It needs 48" strips of ply.
One about 4"-5", one about 1.5", one about 8" and 1 about 14".
One reason it doesn't take up much room in Sudo is because it currently
has NO tabletop.
Does any one want to give some input on wether we/I should make the
tabletop only 24" or 30" wide to save space?
