Hey everyone!
I have an ornate lamp, where the lights are all inside glass flowers, and a
few of them broke. I'd like to replace them by making a silicone mold of
one of the intact ones and then casting it in resin.
Making the mold seems straightforward, but I've never actually cast resin
before, and I'm looking for advice on what resin to use. The bulbs are
halogen bulbs, so they get fairly hot, and the lamps are pretty close. I'm
guessing that if the resin can withstand 200 F they should be fine.
Does anyone know whether this is feasible? Can anyone recommend a resin
that is clearish and can withstand moderately high heat for long periods of
time?
