From the
https://data.sfgov.org/ I wanted to look at
the SF311 data with
two objectives.
1) See if the response time between reports made and report closes varies
geographically within the city. I don't know any objective C, but was
thinking about massaging the data with python. That sounds quite doable.
2) looking at if reporting rates vary geographically in the City. As if
I am asking, are there some neighborhoods characterized by squeaky wheels
and others that hardly bother to report? Unfortunately I''m conceptually
stuck at the issue, how do I distinguish between the case that says are
less reports in a geography because there are less issues, and the theory
that says a neighborhood gets more services because the people there are
more astute or involved in raising their issues.
Thanks for the interest.

Wow, what an excellent site, thanks Romy! It seems
like they take
datasets, process them, and provide an API that allows one to query the
dataset, and have like 21,000 datasets:
https://opendata.socrata.com/browse
Many of the datasets are raw, i.e. comprised of rows and columns of data,
so they should be easy to pull via a REST call and then do whatever kind of
visualization and analysis you'd like within objective C.
Do you have any specific datasets in mind? Machine learning meetups have
restarted and we're going to meet next some time in January. It could be a
good opportunity for you to find people to work on your app with!

Has anyone worked with the socrata open data?
they manage the sf open data website... there's interesting stuff there,
like all the films that were filmed in SF, and their locations and actors,
etc.
It would be a fun geolocation app.
would anyone be interested in collaborating?
