Hell of a Xmas present. Oh wait, that is what the sudoroom owes?!
Doggies! Last time I paid attention I think it was about half that, and
that was when the sudo-humans seemed to be malfunctioning and wasn't
always billing folks. I gather it is working now, at least it seems like
my stipend is being deducted regularly.
So sudoroom seems to be regularly maybe $1k short on its dues? That
seems like more than can fixed with a bake sale or four. I was rather
under the impression that we were making our nut, basically, at least
before the virus struck last year, but maybe I'm wrong.
Does anyone know if this is just because membership/participation in the
sudoroom has atrophied during the pandemic?
I know I basically never show up at the Omni anymore, just to update the
public machines or transport things. I am a vulnerable demographic, and
I hate masking up, it fogs my glasses and messes with my balance, plus
I've been living in the backyard with my 16¾ year-old mutt who can no
longer handle the stairs to our apartment (since last February). So I
can't see myself hanging out in meatspace at the room in the near
future. And I'm sure there are others in a similar situation.

I thought the collective would recover financially after the vaccines
became widely available, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I don't suppose that making dues less optional would help. That would
just price out some folks and probably wouldn't draw in much additional
income.
I'd suggest downsizing the room to a space the organization could
perhaps afford like the soon-to-be vacant Liberated Lens office, but
that wouldn't repair the huge hole in the Omni's income stream unless we
could find a paying collective for the current sudoroom space, and at
this point I can't imagine that happening.
I guess I'll drop by the weekly meeting tonight, though the last time I
tried that no one else was around.
