Hi fellow Sudoers,
I would like to propose that the weekly HHT’s begin by a 10min period of
emptying sudo’s garbage, and cleaning out the fridge.
I recently emptied the overflowing sudo garbage zone again and had to stomp
out a bunch of cockroaches.
Needless to say its an entirely avoidable situ and this life hack of
regularly emptying waste bins regularly will only make sudo a more
welcoming place. It will also aid in preparation for walking banks and
lenders through, and reduce the maintenance load instead conducted by other
omninoms when sudo lapses in this regard.
Can this be adopted as a proposal for the next sudo / HHT meeting?

I greatly appreciate your efforts at cleaning up not only sudoroom, but the
whole building. It's a huge job and a lot more people should be helping than
are.
That said, when Hardware Hacking Tuesdays takes place on Tuesday evenings, the
trash and recycling bins are typically all already full and there's not really
anything we can do about it. Maybe I should come in on a different day of the
week (like right after the bins get emptied) and try to clean up then? Or do
we need more garbage service?
In a somewhat related question...I noticed that there are recycling and compost
bins around the building that have plastic trash bags in them? How is that
supposed to work?

We do need to start up more curbside trash pickups for the building, but
the lapse here appears to be removing trash from Sudo Room into the trash
room.
I didn’t mean to imply that HHT specifically produced this all sudo trash.
I meant only to propose that this could be a task that HHT might contribute
as a modest service to the larger project of Sudo, since it seems to be the
day that Sudo room is used the most.

Oops.. prematurely sent - anyhow to continue, I don’t know anything about
plastic bags in compost bins. Fwiw, the new trash protocols will transition
to compostable bags throughout, which should mitigate this issue in the
future.
I’ll get the WM info from Yar or whomever may have this knowledge and re-up
our number of pickup days.

Agreed, I should have acknowledged, Jake made a totally reasonable point -
I believe the solution is to:
- restore Omni’s typical curbside trash service which was reduced during
the earlier part of thr pandemic.
- with increased trash service there should be room to regularly move trash
from sudo to the trash room.
I believe part of the full big cans issue may be that trash around the
building was not being emptied regularly, and now they are.

- The WM account info should be in the Passpack, but I can send to whomever
takes this on;
- Our Recycling is managed by CiviCorps, a local nonprofit;
- They also offer free e-waste pickup. This requires coordinating with them
via http://www.civicorpsrecycling.org/ewaste/
