thanks so much for your excellent de-crufting, captain!! hella appreciated.
jake's spot-on wrt flow. this seems like an appropriate thread to remind
folks that Omni's recycling company, CiviCorps, has a free e-waste
recycling pickup option. The paper forms are on a clipboard mounted on the
bulleting board above the new front desk area Robb and I put together a few
days ago, but you can also submit a request online
<http://www.civicorpsrecycling.org/ewaste/>. Things must be itemized and
someone present to answer the door for the CiviCorps employee and help move
things out.
It would be most excellent if those most responsible for creating ewaste
help with its disposal ^_^

thanks Chesapeake,
this is not an easy thing to answer. Basically I think we should sort
whatever
we can (depending on our availability and the need for these parts) into
their
appropriate parts bins on the south wall, put larger and more useful items
on
tables around the space and hope they find homes, disassemble things for
their
useful components, and then finally sort them into their appropriate waste
streams.
waste streams include e-waste (piled up next to the fridge), city recycling
(pure plastic, glass, paper, cardboard, and styrofoam), compost (food and
greasy or foody or weathered paper and cardboard) and finally trash.
a separate waste stream is fluorescent lightbulbs, which contain mercury
and
can be recycled at home depot (near the returns counter, check the bins for
cool electronics to take)
i'll try to take a look in the bins when i come in next tuesday, thanks!

Hi all,
I neatened up the soldering area and have asked members to review what was
placed in the two bins to the lower left of the soldering area over the
next two weeks.
Once those two weeks are up and nobody claims any more items in the bin,
how do I transition the stuff in the bin to it's next life? That is,
recycle some, dispose of other stuff. This isn't really run of the mill
"trash" to be put in the black building-wide "trash" bins for
disposal in
a
landfill. Or maybe that is OK? Looking for some guidance here.
Thanks
