the Hammond organ with the Leslie speaker is amazing! But i know the speaker
paper is chewed up and decayed to hell and needs a recone.

Where can we find parts for a recone kit? I volunteer Arlo to do the reconing,
he did a great job with a giant subwoofer recently.
What model speaker is it? Or do we just have to find a reconing company that
can send us a custom cone and surround according to measurements we make?
maybe Tuesday night we can take measurements, and try to figure out the model
number of the speaker.
I wouldn't be surprised if we have to re-use the voice coil that's in there now
- who knows what weird impedance it is (this is an electromagnetic-stator
speaker powered by a tube amp!) and it's probably made with whale-bone PCB
lacquer that will outlast anything we can buy, plus there's nothing wrong with
it.

The mice had a field day with the surround! They started with the
electromagnet field coil but thankfully stopped. It¹s fine after a repair.
It gets a little warm which is normal as it also functions as a choke for
the tube amp power supply.
The Speaker Exchange has a selection of kits for Jensen 15² drivers, voice
coils and spiders included. I¹ll get the model speaker when I¹m in
tomorrow evening and order the kit.

Kent that's awesome! we are so lucky you're here to fix this, there's
probably
no one else left who knows how such a weird speaker/amplifier works. Was it
common to use the speaker as part of the amplifier power supply circuit? I've
never seen anything like this before.
I'm adding Peter to this email chain since he's not in the discuss list but
Peter loves fixing things (so i've heard)

that's exciting about the speaker, lets get this whole machine tuned up where
it can be played by anyone anytime (without too much training or fire risk) and
then maybe people will show up just to play it!

i need the size of the driver (15"? 12"?) and the type of edge. a pic
of the edge would be good. and if there are any numbers or anything
printed on the cone anywhere...

Nice. Thanks Kent & everyone for all their work on this. You’ll likely want
to take a picture of the permanent marking on the back of the cone as well.
Also I can’t remember, but is there a speed control on that leslie..? Some
were dual-speed, but a variac or something similar might allow for a full
range of speeds
Once we got the ramp a couple weeks ago, I finally moved it up to the stage
where it belongs. It could use some step-down casters affixed so it can be
more easily rolled to and from the wing at stage-left, where it should
probably live when not in active use.

We were looking at attaching the foot pedals but that would require taking it
off of the dolley, since the pedals assembly needs support from underneath. An
alternative would be to attach the pedals and install casters under them as
well, so the whole assembly could be moved around or played. It does seem like
we should keep the organ movable, so wheels are a given. Ideally the whole
trifecta of organ, speaker, and foot pedals will be on a combined wheeled
island that anyone can move around without breaking anything
