Today Counter Culture Labs failed to pick up our new biosafety cabinet.
We need someone or some device that can move a large 680 pound 6 foot wide,
top heavy cabinet from its stand at about waist height, down to a couple of
ground-level dollies so we can wheel it through a normal-sized doorway.
Can you help?
This is in redwood city. If we can get it onto dollies, we can move it from
there.
I have no experience with this sort of thing. We showed up with five people
and even with one of the employees at the location helping we didn't feel
comfortable even trying it, as it could easily result in serious injury.
We put down half of the $500 price as a deposit, unscrewed the removable
components and took them with us. We'd like to try to pick it up within the
next week.

Those look like they should work. We may need two to lift the thing.
There's a Tool Shed location in Santa Clara. Home Depot has a similar lift
as well (450lb max, so we'd definitely need two):

If you do use Corcovan, ask for the rate for a "hood lift", and you'd
generally want to use a truck with a lift gate. I've moved a couple of
these, and wouldn't do it without that kind of equipment. Folks I know who
run used equipment businesses say that moving these things is responsible
for a fairly large number of injuries.

We are picking this up Wednesday at 7 pm in redwood city. I could really
use some more hands to help out. I am renting equipment to move it but some
lifting and stabilizing will still be required. I am also trying to
organize pickup of two large incubators at 5 pm, but have not yet confirmed
with the buyer.
It sounds like the seller will have more equipment in the coming weeks as
they are transitioning to a new space.

They are indeed monsters. When I bought the BSCs to bring up to Makerspace
in victoria I looked pretty hard for a cheap or free way to move them
myself. In the end I hired Corovan to do so. They had a nice device that
looked like an engine hoist that would have let them lift it easily to put
it on dollies. Except their nice device wouldn't fit in the elevator. So I
ran off to harbor freight and bought a lift table which we were able to put
under the BSC and with some blocks of wood for extra height lift up off its
base then lower it onto dollies on each side of the lift table. The weight
somewhat exceeded the 800 pound capacity of the lift table I got but with a
person at each corner to help lift and stabilize it worked OK. Doing it
again I would get the larger lift table for ~$250 rather than the 800 pound
one that cost about $150.

I don't think a 500 lbs max 18 inch wide table lift is going to cut it for
a 78 inch wide 680 lbs cabinet. I think you might be looking at the wrong
model cabinet. That page I linked lists multiple cabinets of different
sizes. Or maybe you're suggesting we use a pair?
Maybe lowering it into dollies with two of those materials lifts Johan
linked would work? If we ratchet-strap the material lifts to the cabinet
before lowering so they don't slide out?
