The serial numbers have been submitted to Fremont Unified School District IT so the Chromebooks can be de-provisioned from Google Enterprise Enrollment. After that they can have their write-protect screws removed and any alternative OS (Linux-based, probably) can be installed. I'd love if Sudoroom would build out a practice to help students and residents remove write protection, install an alternative OS, and empower them to get the most out of that alternative OS. Most of them currently cannot be used because the Fremont School District hasn't de-authorized them yet, so they're hard locked to those Google Accounts, and can't even be properly wiped.
