**Term limited stop gap board

the four things that are necessary for a board action are:

we need by laws and they could be based on articles of association
should include
*exclude board members from voting in recall
*require open meetings
*have some number of nonvoting member
*no exec session

Hey Liberty,
We do have language classes scheduled on Sundays at the Public School but they don't start until noon (not sure how long you were anticipating this might run).
Let me know if it would be helpful at all to have use of our room from 9am-12pm.

Though we haven't done much of a promotional push for this particular Cryptoparty, they tend to be quite popular and bring in a sizeable number of people.
In the future, I'd like to request that people please check both the Common Space calendar (http://2141broadway.wordpress.com) and the Sudo Room calendar (http://sudoroom.org/calendar) and contact the organizers of potential concurrent events before scheduling an event at the same time.

I'm about to order some pig hearts for a science experiment form C&M Meats
in Berkeley, but they won't deal with an order of less than five.
So - anyone want a free pig heart? About the same size and shape as a human
heart. Halloween is coming up. So is end of BBQ season - hint, hint...
Also perfect for dissection classes! These hearts are food grade, but will
be much more intact than what you might find at the butcher (what's called
a "bio-heart" in the trade: arteries still attached, no slit through the
chambers to let the blood drain, etc.)
Come on, have a heart!

Hi Jenny! And others
The calendar was cunsulted and Crypto is scheduled for Sunday at 2-5p correct?
On any given day there are simultaneous events/meetups held at Sudo/common room on multiple days at multiple times Every Day. Ie Thursday nights with CCL , Oakland Wiki, Java Script, Phython as one example. Which to me is the makings of a excellent hackerspace!
Executing Crypto does not exclude other events/ meetups /people from gathering/assembley/ visiting / touring/ hacking at Sudo/ Public School or the common space. It of course would prevent a similar large scale event from executing at the same time.
Hack a Film in a Day was booked on that day (sunday oct 20)because the execution needs do NOT conflict with any standing events. The event, like many meetups held at Sudo, does not monopolize the space in the same way Crypto or a Oakland nights live event does. It requires neither a podium nor folding chairs :)
If it were a large scale event or interfered with Crypto I would have certainly reached out to you personally or simply selected another date.
The event begins at 9am at Sudo and remains on location for about 2-3 hours.
If you have never attended a film hacking event or are unsure of what to expect please feel free to reach out off line.
I understand your concern and need to ensure your event is ran successfully. I love Crypto! The last one was excellent! Both events will be a hit!
I will certainly promote your event to anyone who attends Hack a Film in Day on Sunday ! Come for the digital and stay to encrypt it!
Collaboration is key!
Please feel free to reach out off list if you have specific questions or concerns or if you are curious of the format!
I would love to have you attend!

This is super cool. And a great example of why I think we should become more aware of developing country innovation because their constraints are more likely to embed sustainability design values.

West African Inventor Makes a $100 3D Printer From E-Waste
http://inhabitat.com/west-african-inventor-makes-a-100-3d-printer-from-e-wa…
by Timon Singh, 10/12/13
Kodjo Afate Gnikou, a resourceful inventor from Togo in West Africa, has made a $100 3D printer which he constructed from parts he scrounged from broken scanners, computers, printers and other e-waste. The fully functional DIY printer cost a fraction of those currently on the market, and saves environmentally damaging waste from reaching landfill sites.
Discarded electronic equipment is one of the world’s fastest-growing sources of waste, as consumers frequently replace “old” models that become more obsolete each year. However instead of letting e-waste sit them on the scrap pile or head to the landfill, Kodjo Afate Gnikou decided to utilize spare parts in order to create a cheap, DIY 3D printer.
Gnikou is part of WoeLab, a hackerspace in the city of Lomé, and has big plans for his recycling project. According to his crowd funding page, he is working with FacLab-France in the WAFATE to Mars project, which aims to make machines from recycled e-waste to prepare for missions on Mars. Systems like the 3D printer could become a crucial part of missions on the Red Planet should they ever go ahead.
Gnikou’s 3D printer was mostly made from materials he obtained from a junk yard in Lomé, though he did have to buy a few parts. The entire system cost about $100 which is a bargain considering current models on the market can cost thousands of dollars.
According to his fundraising page, Gnikou aims that with his project, he will “put technology into needy hands and give Africa the opportunity to not only be a spectator but to play the first role in a more virtuous industrial revolution.”

Hi everybody,
My phone got interrupted while upgrading the firmware and I was
wondering if anybody would be interested in fixing it. I'm willing to
pay if you can get it running again. I have spent quite a bit of the
weekend trying to fix it and I'm at a breaking point with it.
It's a Samsung S2 for Sprint (D710) and it boots to Odin mode, but not
recovery mode. However, my computer... and a few other computers I've
tried won't recognize my phone in Odin mode. It was running Android
4.0.4 with the eMMc bug. I read that you might still be able to do it in
Hiemdall, but I don't want to invest another weekend into fixing it.
Take care,
Jeremy

Subject: [spaghettinight] Temescal Crop Swap/Harvest to Feed
To: The Spaghetti Night mailing list <spaghettinight(a)tentacle.net>
Hi all,
I am helping to organize a new crop swap in North Oakland starting this
Friday. Details below.
Calling all backyard gardeners!
As an urban gardener, you probably find that you sometimes have more
edibles than you can consume. If you're looking for a way to put this
produce to use, mingle with fellow gardeners, and share with community
members in need, join us at the Victory Garden Crop Swap and Harvest to
Feed!
Meet on Friday, October 18th; 12- 2 pm at the Telegraph Community Center,
5316 Telegraph Ave, Oakland 94609 (across from the Temescal Library.) This
is the location of the North Oakland Telegraph Ministry Center Food Pantry
that distributes food to those in need. About 200 people are served each
week. Bring homegrown crops and seeds to share or trade with fellow
gardeners and members of the community. All excess produce will be donated
to the food pantry.
Please join us - Bring your abundance! Bring a few crops! Bring yourself and
a smile!
We are currently also looking for volunteers to help run the crop swap. If
you are interested and have time to share, come by a few minutes early on
Friday to chat with us! We will be there starting at 11 to set up. If you
can't make it on Friday, email your interest to victory.garden(a)comcast.net
