Hi all,
I realized that for certain people who have been consistently working very,
very, very hard on the ADA & Fire Prev. infrastructure and ballroom almost
every day the last few weeks specifically in preparation for the CR event,
that its important these folks all have a chance to actually see and
feel their hard work come to fruition and even $15 may be too much.
Therefore I would like to propose an ultra late breaking request that the
following people have Omni buy their ticket, if they want to go:
- Benjamin Burke (sudo)
- Oskar (omni)
- TJ (sudo)
- Sean (sudo)
- Maximillian (FNB)
- Yar (sudo)
MANY of us have been working very hard on the ballroom, but these folks
above really have put in crazy hours for weeks straight now. I do not mean
to discount in any way the hard work of everyone.. I just feel like the
above folks have really gone just so far above and beyond, that their
effort needs to be recognized and this would be a very good way to do it.
This sort of selfless support is so admirable and inspiring and cant be
taken for granted -
Yes, I am also too broke to go, but it feels weird asking for myself
obviously. Itd be nice though and i really wish i could.
Anyhow If its okay with people id like to ask these folks get their ticket
from omni.

i am worried that the fans that are in the ceiling now will be removed,
and we will no longer have the option of attaching long ducts to them for
localized air/fume extraction.
is there some way we can request that the fans remain there somehow? or
some way to ventilate air out of the room? I think this is really
important.

i'm reading the wiki page but i don't see how to set up a static IP
address

can i just set up something to take that address and it will be fine? I
don't have to set it up somewhere else?
also.. i noticed that none of the stuff in the internet factory upstairs
is labeled - it's just wires going here and there that you have to follow.
is anyone planning on labeling that stuff?

Sudo next week. We have six. They expect to replace two per day on

the robot has an external disk drive which is connected to it with a
25-pin serial cable. The disk drive unit is a computer in itself, with a
lot of functionality. It boots up in "ERC MODE" meaning it's ready to
talk to the YASNAC ERC, our robot control computer.
i spied on the conversation between the robot and the disk drive while the
robot loaded a file. I saved the conversation using the salae logic
program:

you will see that the format matches closely that which is described by
the communications manual:

the baud rate is 4800 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, EVEN parity.
it's connected to the 3d printer computer if you want to write a program
to pretend to be a disk drive. then we can send it programs without
having to use ancient floppy diskettes.
to talk to it from that computer (whose IP address is .42.8) just run a
script called "robot" in ~sudodesk/bin/robot
it calls screen /dev/ttyS0 4800,parenb,-parodd
(that's how you get even parity with screen)
when i open that terminal, and then go to the floppy menu from the robot,
it sends the following (? means unprintable character):
ENQ?ENQ?ENQ?CAN+?CAN+?CAN+?EOT?
which means, probably; HEY ARE YOU THERE?
HEY ARE YOU THERE?
HEY ARE YOU THERE?
NEVER MIND.
NEVER MIND.
NEVER MIND.
I'M HANGING UP NOW.
see if you can get the robot to load a file from an imaginary disk drive.

Program Overview
Artist as Activist provides game-changing resources to artists (of all disciplines – visual, performing, media, and beyond), designers, and other creative professionals who are addressing important global challenges through their creative practice. In years past this support has included a commissioned print edition to benefit a particular cause or organization. Today the Artist as Activist program is comprised of three distinct grant opportunities:
Artist as Activist Fellows: artists and legally established art collectives with a demonstrated commitment to applying their creative work to the public sphere will receive up to $100,000 over two years, along with a suite of value-added support. Fellows will be selected through an open call for proposals.
Artist as Activist Travel & Research Grants: a separate pool of funds has been reserved for similar artists seeking support (ranging from $2,500 to $10,000) to travel or conduct research related to this aspect of their work. Travel/Research grantees will be selected through an open call for proposals.
Artist as Activist Organizations: Ten organizations from across the U.S. that have been exemplars in supporting artists working at the intersection of art and change will receive general operating support. These organizational grants are by invitation only.

Consistent with our commitment to upholding the legacy of our founder, Robert Rauschenberg, all of RRF’s philanthropy programs operate with a set of core values that embody his work as both an artist and a philanthropist. we chatted about potentially selling our electronics kits + other stuff at
RPS Collective retail space.
- There's a potential for us to sell stuff at their next art show, which
will be a full retail show in the whole space. Lots of potential for
exposure since they are the first storefront at First Friday

Collective was one of the worker’s collectives that helped start the
Oakland Art Murmur. Here he checks out the zine library and is already
coming up with ideas for different community projects.
A recent SudoRoom collaboration involved SudoRoom donating Linux computers
to RPS Collective in exchange for a beautiful sign painting. It’s pretty
cool seeing the different volunteer-run collectives creating and helping
each other out!
