robot arm mounted cnc + a random pan tilt w/wire harness

can i use this pan/tilt with wire harness thing I found on the workbench (it's stepper-motor driven belt system with full 360 motion )? I would like to build a 3d camera mount for the robot arm ... I'm drafting some ideas right now, I havent harmed the part, but I did remove it from the space sort of unthinkingly last night. additionally, matt showed me a cnc mill attachment in the space, so I (we?) would like to use that on the arm, too, if there's no objections. once I get some mock-ups i'll put the idea up on github and we can start integrating code!

Money for shakers?

Hi all, I had a conversation with the CEO of the Thiel foundation this weekend, and I learned that they've begun a new experiment involving the distribution of grants to organizations who are in some way changing the way things are done in this world, with favor towards STEM (undoubtedly due to Thiel's bias toward democratizing those fields). I mentioned that I've been doing my fellowship work at the Omni commons, and have described the place as it is - a haphazard collection of interesting collectives, and she took significant interest in that. Would this be a conversation the Omni fundraisers would like to continue? There could be good outcomes, given Sudo and CCL's presence and activity in the commons. (If so I'd also like to be an observer in the process, as this year I'll have to do a fundraising round of my own so any experience is valuable!) Cheers, -Adam

One useful thing to know would be what year/model macbook it is. It makes a really big difference in terms of how easy it is to open it up and dig around. thx 4 linx & $.02. maybe i should have said "Building Education from the Underground up". There is a blue ethernet cable that comes in the wall between my shop and the hallway and goes out the wall again a few feet away only to come back in the doorway and then plug into the phone line (I think). I've been asking for someone (from Sudo?) to reroute it so that it just comes in and goes right to the plug instead of the wrapping around. I'm concerned that it will be damaged by the door closing on it repeatedly. Who can help? 2. I know this may be more involved but I'm wondering if the placement of the trash cans can/will be discussed soon? It's going to be a major drag to work all day in that stink. bike stuff etc in trash room & hallway needs be removed

hey all - After niki et al made a special dump run with a ton of crap that had been building up in the garbage room, theres still what looks like a useable bike trailer in the trash room, as well as a bunch of other random stuff in there too.. If this is y'alls - please remove it? If you know whose that stuff is, let me know? Same with the hallway - the hallway needs to be clear as it is a fire corridor for the building plus an accessibility issue. Signs have been put up and barring any objection I am planning on removing all this stuff by next week. Best, David

Won't Make Meeting

I was the delegate last week, and I'd love to make this week's meeting, but where I live they've trapped me in my room with mattresses I can't move and I've told them and they said they'd move them half an hour ago, but they're still there so I highly doubt I'll make the meeting tonight. I'd try and convey what I'd say at the meeting, but my brain is instead just freaking out about being trapped. There were other sudoers at the delegates meeting.

Omni invoices - Reminder

Hello Sudo-ers! Just a reminder to please pay the remainder of your invoice for the Omni's shared expenses in January ($86.47 outstanding) as soon as possible. See attached for a copy of that invoice. As well, please let the finances working group know how you would like to pay for the State Farm insurance the Omni paid on your behalf from January - July 2015. We didn't make any decisions about how to do that, but we did make a plan to make those decisions in a way that can involve as many Omni denizens as possible. Step 1: Here <https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BXGHX2N> is a link to an online survey to get the background information we need to make decisions about the visioning/planning process. The questions are directed at people who are actively involved with the Omni as organizers, collective members, and frequent space users. In other words, it is for people who have first hand experience with how things are going within the Commons. *Please fill out the survey by 6am, Monday, February 23rd.* Instructions are given at the beginning. In order to keep the processing of the data manageable, please answer as concisely as possible. If you know someone who would have something to contribute to the survey but who isn't on this list, feel free to forward this email. Step 2: Once we have collected the survey answers we will convene a meeting where anyone can come help analyze the data and get some clarity on what is important to people about the process. We will use this info to develop a focus question, and narrow down the methods we might use. Step 3: The Visioning and Planning working group will develop a proposal for the the process based on the outcomes of Step 2.
