Hi everyone,
You're getting this email either because 1) you're on the sudoroom discuss
email list, or 2) because I BCC'd you directly.
Tonight I'll be hosting Sudoroom for those who want to come hack on whatever,
in person, or through telepresence (see the last link in this email)
ALSO NOW FEATURING: SoftWEAR hacking too: most Tuesday evenings the sewing area
at Omni Commons (in the basement) is also active so bring your fabric and
textile projects and technical repairs; we've got heavy duty and serger sewing
machines available. You're also welcome to bring your own machine to have it
checked out and tuned up for tip-top operation or to just sew alongside others.
in the past few weeks, we've had about 5-15 people over the course of the
evening, not including remote participants who logged in through telepresence
Here it is on the sudoroom page:
https://sudoroom.org/events/categories/sudo-room-events/
that says 7PM but I try to be there earlier.
if you get to the door (at the corner of 48th and shattuck) and you can't get
in, call me or someone else who's there to let you in! Email me if you don't
have my phone number. Actually a great way to get our attention is to join the
video chat link at the end of this email!
We don't always hear the doorbell and I don't answer it anyway!
You should get on this sudoroom discuss mailinglist! click here:
https://sudoroom.org/lists/postorius/lists/sudo-discuss.sudoroom.org/
and you should donate monthly to sudoroom, monthly, by signing up here:
https://sudoroom.org/humans
and if you want to make a one-time donation, you can go here:
https://sudoroom.org/donate
if you can't make it in person: join the jitsi videochat with the room, and
chat with each other as well as a giant TV screen/speakerphone on the wall:
https://meet.waag.org/turtlesturtlesturtles
(don't worry if you're the only one in the "room", others will join eventually,
and if the camera is pointed at the floor, just yell until someone comes and
talks to you and then ask them to aim it back up into the room)
see you soon!
-jake
Think some man peed on the floor, it stinks really bad rn. How does Omni
proceed about cleaning that bathroom? Is it SudoRoom responsibility? That
would be a good timing for what Romy proposed, pay for a professional
cleaner.

Tried multiple times today, even tested with other ppl who have card keys
and nothing. Should I just grab another card key with someone?

Hey I had fun at sudoroom hardware hack night
Here's he updated blog post on our "collaboration" with stable diffusion
https://sudoroom.org/stable-diffusion-artist-jam/
It seems to get people so excited! Maybe if people could come along, bring their paintbrushes and jam alongside the stable diffusion prompts it would be a really fun event!
The idea of collaborating with the AI to make art, and also automate some stuff like music (until we get a musician to join our group) was very appealing. We could treat the AI as a sort of jazz group band member, and we can bounce our flesh meat ideas off of it.
I think I sent this already but here's another blog post of the generative
ai stable diffusion adventure
i had a lot of fun bringing a watercolor set to the sudoroom :) and
painting to the prompts

I am a Sudo member willing to help pay for a professional cleaner
I don’t have time to clean other peoples junk and clutter. While I will help clean the days I do go, usually what happens is one person ends up doing most of the work and it’s not very effective. Also women tend to clean more than men for some reason. End result of members cleaning g is more wasted energy and effort and no cleaning by the people who cause the mess

Hi all
I have an older MendelMax 3D printer that has all parts but was damaged in a move. It should be easy to put back together with another 3D printer to create a few broken pieces.
Also have a handful of VR headsets (also older but still in new boxes).
Is there a home for these things at Sudo Room?
Thanks.

looking for someone good at node to help maintain a project that sudoroom and
CCL both depend on!
first step will be updating dependancies so that it can run on a modern Debian
installation - the project hasn't been maintained so this is a bit of work.
A lot of people have volunteered for this over the years but nobody has
actually followed through - are you the one to get it done?
Here's the repo, let me know if you think you can do it!

Hi everyone,
I’m traveling tonight, so I won’t be hosting a Wednesday party.
I’ve also been unusually busy this last month, and haven’t been active in
updating the calendar or sending out a summary of events for the month (or
sending this email in a timely manner). There’s a lot going on, though, so
if anyone is interested in hosting our monthly meeting or our weekly
Wednesday parties or really anything else, let me know! Coordinating a
reliable and organized group of active volunteers is an ongoing process and
there’s never been a better time to find new ways to be a part of that!
I’ll be back next Weds and hosting a game of a solarpunk tabletop rpg!
That’s on Wednesday, April 19th and 26th at 8. Email me if you want to play!
Cheers,
Andy

Hey Juliana my office closed down and I have a great fancy extra Logitech keyboards that I can donate.
I also have some extra paper cups and plates that I don’t think will add to the clutter
Could we please put up a wiki page on these efforts? If there’s no one I’ll make one. It’s too hard to keep track of everything over email and reply to the threads 🧵

I was talking to Jonathan Cadle and we're working on having
accessible computers for those who dont have one/cant bring it to sudo
room. They are working on creating "communal stations", which would be
desktop computers plugged ins, with some basic linux os and ready for use
by anyone.
But we dont have keyboard / mouses enough. Posting here first to see if
anyone has spare ones. Or brainstorm where we could get donations. I'll
think/ask around and post my findings here.
I think rn we have one communal station working. It would be nice to have a
couple!

Hi Sudoroom people,
tonight in the Delegates meeting (without quorum) we checked in on this
proposal. Sudoroom people should look into delegates meeting notes and find
out about all the exciting things we talk about at these meetings.
As your delegate, it's my task to communicate the collective desire of the
sudoroom membership back to the delegates' meetings, so lets have meetings and
talk about delegates issues so that I can do that without having to make it
up on the fly.
I am also totally down to train other members to be a sudoroom delegate! It's
1-2 hours per meeting, 1st and 3rd thursdays at 7PM, online (you can attend
from anywhere you want)
regarding the proposal below, Sarah is part of Pro Arts which was operating in
Oscar Grant Plaza downtown until recently when the City raised the rent, but
since their mission is very aligned with that of Omni, Sarah has suggested
this collaboration. I think it's great.

Pro Arts would basically help promote the media lab to its community of
artists. It would definitely be collaborative, rather than taking it over!
I, personally, would be willing to contend with the removal of the "wall of
crates" in the collaborative spirit.

*This Wednesday, April 3rd is Sudo Room's April meeting from 8 to 9 PM!*
We don't have an agenda yet, but suggest whatever you want to add. Better
yet, volunteer to run the meeting or to join one of our working groups!
Otherwise, I'll send out a meeting agenda when I think of one.
Cheers,

I am working on animation and learning how to do animations for light
projection projects.
I took an old SudoRoom flyer and animated it during our hardware hack
night! (Man I need to do a hardware project :P)

I miss the downtown ness of it ! I heard unfortunately a new company wanted the Bildung so they kicked out the cool jazz studio the sound room. And the hairdressers … but then COVID hit so the building stays empty 😭
