It's been a while since we've had a real Sudoroom meeting. There are a
couple of pending Omni proposals & issues that need our attention:
* Almost 6 months ago, Helen proposed a process for Omni delegates to
resolve conflicts and remove members from working groups. We owe it to
her to finally make a clear decision on this.
* Omni's figurehead corporate entity needs 3 new officers (president,
secretary, treasurer) and we need more volunteers for these roles
* We need to figure out …

I proposed letting members vouch for non-members, which doesn't seem
fully workable, but the discussion must continue
We could meet this week 8/21, next week 8/28, or the week after 9/4. I
know more people will be in town 9/4 but the downside is that we have
a delegates meeting the very next day. If anybody has blocking
concerns for any of these proposals it would be rude to wait until 9/4
to voice them.

last night there was a constant beeping sound in sudoroom
it was traced to a UPS in the server rack.
the type of UPS was the oldest cheapest kind with no buttons or functions, it
didn't even have USB or any way to notify equipment that power had failed...
so I unplugged it from the wall for a second and everything went down, so i
followed through and removed it from the system and plugged everything back in.
After a while of still no internet, i realized that the router PC was not on

[View More]because it's a dell desktop that has not been configured to turn itself on
after being plugged in. I pressed the power button and everything went back to
normal.
Of course i'm sure that dell is "temporary" but we should probably either boot
it into BIOS mode and set it to "auto power on after AC loss" or take a safety
pin and short the PS_ON# green wire (possibly a different color since it's a
dell) to black (ground) to force the power supply ON no matter what.
oh and also a sign of some sort.
to be clear: the UPS was not working and wasn't hooked up properly anyway. A
UPS needs to tell the computers it's powering that the power has failed so they
can safely shut down before power goes off.

We of the Booking WG are not feeling like we are getting the cooperation
of SPAZ or SUDO in resolving the outstanding issues regarding SPAZ
holding events in the basement.
Our understanding is that if Sudo is sponsoring SPAZ events
then a representative of Sudo needs to at least be present at those SPAZ events
and should be involved in putting the event on, This has not been happening.
In addition there is BYOB alcohol at SPAZ event without any ABC permits
or any insurance; there has been …

there have not been sufficient noise reduction procedures at the last event and
people in the neighboring building have been kept up at 1:30am; and the
SpaZ events have left the premises strewn with beer bottles and trash without
having made a cleaning deposit for their rental.
In addition SPAZ has assumed the authority to extend their SUDO sponsorship
to others e.g. Chai CAT and SKAT.
In order to allow SKAST to take place on 8/31 booking wg must insist that
there is better noise/crowd control, much better security/supervision, no
alcohol, proper insurance, and trash removal guananteed by a cleaning deposit.
The tone of frustration apparent in this post is not the way booking would want to
communicate with our colleagues but comes with not having had a chance to
work with sudo or SPAZ f2f for weeks. Hopefully with such meetings we can
get clear on some of these basics and work together for the good of OC.

it could be some other issue such as the collective's use of its
space. If a collective needs to change the terms of any part of its
lease it must come to the Delegates' Assembly with a proposal for new
terms within one month. Even if the collective is unable to pay its
rent, it retains full membership in the OMNI for three months, as long
as a solution to the problem is being negotiated in good faith.
The three-month clock starts ticking as soon as the collective comes
to a Delegates' Assembly, or fails to meet the terms of its agreement,
whichever comes first.
It is the responsibility of a collective with a problem to bring it to
the Delegates' Assembly.
The delegates must prioritize finding a way to retain a current member
collective.

There is now a Secure Scuttlebutt (SSB) node running at Sudo Room, on the space.local server. The node's id is
@U0uq5om3k51u4Eokk0CLYOE61cWSyY9Ex6zNj4lhTLE=.ed25519 and its nickname is "sudoer".
If you run SSB (e.g. Patchwork) and are connected to the WiFi or wired network here, you will see @sudoer and can follow it. It will automatically follow you. This means you can get connected to the main SSB network just by running SSB while on the LAN here.

[View More]the space.local server, you can access @sudoer's web-based UI ("patchfoo"), to browse the SSB network from the node's perspective, and post as the node - including following/unfollowing contacts and updating its profile description. This node is not currently running as a "pub", but if there is interest in that, I could try to make that happen.

someone made a "computer" by taping a laptop motherboard onto the back of an
old LCD monitor and set it up on the main tables of sudoroom.
The duct tape has loosened and the whole thing has fallen apart. But I know
that someone put a bunch of work into this thing and they probably want to take
it or some of the parts.
Does anyone know who made it?
