Hi Sudo / CCL :) Might any sudoer or CCL'er be available and willing to bottomline a private/free anti-doxx and digital security training that an attorney would like to hold at omni, this Saturday 6/3 11:30am-2:30p? Its a last-minute event, so I'm reaching out beyond the commons list.. If anyone can help hold this down, please lmk? (ps. Due to the vulnerability of the population that would attend the training, please don't forward outside of omni or post on social media.) Best, David

Hey all, I'm also going to compile these into a 'best practices' guide to post to the wiki and around the space. Please add to this thread if I've missed anything: *Products:* In the interest of becoming a more accessible space for those with chemical sensitivities, I've been slowly ordering unscented cleaning products in bulk: * There's a big jug of Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, an unscented general purpose cleaner that can be diluted for use in mopping floors, cleaning toilet bowls, and wiping down surfaces. * There are two gallon jugs of unscented liquid hand soap for the bathrooms - use 4 parts water to every part soap. I've ordered 4 wall-mountable foam pump dispensers for the bathrooms, but they won't arrive for a few weeks. * Please do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals in the common areas, though if you must (eg; cleaning up rodent droppings), ventilate the area as best you can afterwards. *Supplies Storage:* * You should know by now that most of our bulk cleaning and paper supplies, such as trash bags, trifold paper towels and toilet paper, can be found in the cleaning closet at the top of the wheelchair lift across from the Kids Room. If you notice supplies are running low, please send a ping to finance@omnicommons! * Some basic supplies, such as trash bags, a broom, some cleaning products, can also be found in the closet located between the refrigerator and the upstairs Disco Room bathroom. * Disco Room bathroom has a stock of TP, hand soap, and paper towels in the cabinets. * Mop buckets and mops live upstairs in the washout room near the DR bathroom. There are usually one or two in the sudo/CCL bathroom as well. * There is a rodent abatement crate in the secure tool storage closet - though I have not seen the mister around lately. Pickup is Thursday mornings, so if sudoers around on Wednesdays could help with pulling the blue bins to the curb, that would be rad. * *CiviCorps offers free e-waste removal!! *Don't just put e-waste on the curb, however - the pickup needs to be requested and an inventory form filled out: http://www.civicorpsrecycling.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Civicorps-Recy… (i'll print out a bunch of these and put them in the sudo's 'front desk' area). * Garbage and compost still go out on Friday mornings. Garbage is regularly in a state of overflow - so if you help or host any large events please remember that all large events are responsible for taking their trash out at the end of the event. *To Dos:* * Install paper towel dispenser in sudo/CCL bathroom (there are several located in the secure storage closet) * Replace flushing valve in sudo/CCL bathroom * Install hand soap dispensers once they arrive * Could stand to do another round of rodent abatement - finding and covering holes; deep cleaning of basement, trash room, and sudo; setting more traps; and *shudder* dealing with the crawl spaces/vents. internet down at Omni

this Tuesday afternoon I was disappointed to discover that the internet was not working at Omni. I found that the DSL modem we rent from LMI had no link to the outside world, and that neither of the two phone lines it's supposed to connect to are active. I called LMI and started a trouble ticket, and scheduled a visit by AT&T who is responsible for our phone lines arriving at the building. After getting off the phone (right before LMI closed for the day) i plugged a phone directly into the entry point box in the corner of the Phat Beats room and confirmed that the problem is NOT inside our building. The phone lines coming into our building cross the street to the construction zone across 48th street, so I assume they cut our lines. Hopefully AT&T will come fix it tomorrow. The LMI ticket number for this incidnt is 78496 They have my phone number, and if they arrive and have trouble getting in the front door or into the room with the phone boxes I can buzz them in and tell them the lock combo. Hopefully they will come tomorrow afternoon. Separately, i noticed that our DSL modem was only connected to one of the two phone lines, which would have halved our bandwidth. We should fix that by finding a four-conductor phone cable with RJ13 ends, and using it to connect the modem to the jack on the wall in the server area. -jake

Hey all, Laura reminded me that next Sunday is Mother's Day. which doesn't seem a good date to have a work/painting party. That said let's push everything, but the book removal over one week: Book deadline still Mon May 15 Front hall cleaning & painting: Sun May 21 Omni Pay What You Can Sale: Sun May 28 (if the ballroom is still open that day) Dump run: Tues May 30 Hello Omni, The Welcoming Working Group is slowly getting more organized, sorry it’s taking so long, if you would like to sign-up for a door shift you can add your name to our online shift tracker… https://www.omnicommons.org/frontdesk Even if someone has already signed up on a shift you want go ahead and sign up for the same time as well. That’s actually a good thing, because then someone can stay watching the door while someone else can give tours. We will also be compiling a door shift training manual very soon that goes over Omni rules that must be followed and how to greet/interact with visitors. We are going to be painting and beautifying the front entryway next Sunday May 14. Painting, which will encompass the walls and ceiling, will begin at 5pm. Before painting though some prep work needs to get done, including patching some holes in the walls, replacing ceiling tiles and consolidating & organizing wires, this will happen Saturday night & Sunday morning/afternoon. Contact me if you would like to paint, patch, glue or whatever else in this endeavor. There’s a lot of work to get the whole main hall beautified and part of that is we are shifting, moving, donating books that were a part of the former library. That said, if there are any books you would like to keep for yourself GET THEM NOW, they will be donated and gone by Monday May 15. The Omni Pay What You Can Sale is going down Sunday May 21 all afternoon in the ballroom. I am personally motivated to clear out the basement again, but this is an opportune time for any group or area of Omni to get cleaned out. If there is something your collective wants to get rid of please get it ready for the move to the ballroom. We’re asking that you keep that stuff in your area until the day of the sale, DO NOT move it to the main hall or basement. If you absolutely need the space in your area before May 21 you may move it to the basement ONLY if you are giving your word of honor that you personally will carry it up from the basement to the ballroom on the day of the event. Stuff that does not make its way out via the sale will be hauled away to the dump Tuesday May 23. Hopefully the sale will have generated enough cash to pay for the dump runs.
