Subject: Inventors tv show - call for inventors

To: press(a)noisebridge.net
Hi,
My name is Ashley and I work for Pitch 5 Productions, a tv production company based in Los Angeles. We are working on a pilot for a major cable network and are looking for inventors for a segment of the show, so we’re reaching out to Maker/Hackerspaces around the country to find some really amazing creations. I wanted to reach out and see if anyone within your organization might be interested, or if you could submit the following post in any bulletins or message boards. Here’s what we’re looking for:
We are casting inventors who would want to have one of their inventions safety tested by a major product testing company. Inventors would appear on camera for a non airing pilot. Inventors would demonstrate their invention and engineers would put their product through appropriate safety testing. For example, if the product has electrical components, some type of motor, or plugs in, they would put the product through the necessary tests to receive a safety mark.
This is a great opportunity for inventors who are trying to get their product to market.
Interested candidates please send contact info, a brief description of your product and current photo of yourself to ashley(a)pitch5productions.com.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call or email.
Best,
Ashley Sims

Can someone volunteer?

Hey all,
Jerome and I were messing with this old apple laptop, we left it on the 3D
printer desk, assuming that no one would bother stealing such an
under-powered device.
Lo and behold, it seems to be missing... Hopefully somebody just picked it
up thinking it was an up-for-grabs relic!
If you have it, please return it to me. If you've seen it, please let me
know where/when. If you know who has it, please let me know.
Thanks!

I know the subject line is like.. woot!?? :)
But seriously... :) I am looking for someone to hold my hand and walk me
through (help me with) a couple of small projects. Here is what I wish to
accomplish:
1- to get a router with OpenWRT (Not sure of its capabilities, but I like
the idea to get ride of the corporate code, because potential backdoors)
2- and if needed, a tiny computer that would be always connected to a VPN
account, so that all home computers can use it as their gateway; IF the
router cannot do this.
What can I give in exchange?
Well, I don't know what knowledge I can share when all of you seem to be
way above my head.
I don't know, maybe Photography? Spanish? :)
Please let me know if interested, we can start right away. I am eager to
start this.
Many thanks,
Daniel

In general, if you have any piece of equipment or furniture you would like
to donate to CCL, *please check with us first*! You can always email
info(a)counterculturelabs.org to contact some of the organizers (I'll check
if we have a donations@ and equipment@ alias as well). At a very minimum,
for goodness sake please add a note to whatever you dropped off.
So *whomever dropped off a bunch of stone countertops in CCL, please get
rid of them.* We don't need them, we don't want them, they're taking up
space, and we sure as heck prefer not to have to clean up after you...
The same principle applies to any equipment "donations" to Sudo and to the
Omni as a whole as well. If you haul something in, assuming you're doing
someone else a favor, it is still YOUR responsibility to make sure the
respective organizations actually want your "treasure". We are all having a
hard enough time keeping entropy under control with the stuff we have
already...
Thanks!
Patrik
I don't fit into the startup scene all the time even though I secretly enjoy it when it's good
But I don't fit into the activist & cool social movements folks all the time even though they're doing important smart innovative work
I'm still barely getting my feet wet in open source & seek to make contributions but the passionate opinionated folks at Sudoroom && Noisebridge show me the way
I'm glad I can visit places like Sudoroom and omni where people like me who don't always fit in can hang out!

We hosted their event. One Omni person was bottom lining it, but
didn't read the full poster before approving. Another Omni person saw
the posters and do-o-cratically crossed out the word "autistic". Then
we asked the organizers to correct all their flyers, which they
apparently did.
Our community has no love for Google, gentrification, OR for ableism.
We are sorry to have our name associated with any of those things.
"Anti-intellectualism" is just a cheap shot which portrays tech
workers as intellectual and everyone else as stupid. This is an
economic issue. You should know better.
