Hi Matt & Eddan-
Attached please find the 4/2014 Statement. Included is a charge for a small
portion of the elevator repairs that we have had to pay for because of
excessive use--we are asking you and the Public School to each contribute a
small portion ($150....less than 10% of the $1879.06 bills) towards these
repairs, which were in addition to our monthly R&M bill that we get for the
elevator.
Hope to see you both soon!
Laurie
The cleaning is immense. Very enthused by sudoers. Lots more to do, but it has already been cathartic!
Join us tomorrow if you can lend a hand.

Tonight's another Words of Resistence radical poetry reading!
It's "A night of words to explore and destroy our relationship with
technology!" I know I totally disagree with that, and that a lot of the
people who organize and go to this event have a collectively more nuanced
perspective than this (in part because of rumors I've been spreading to
them about radical technology communities like Sudo Room). I want to see
more nuanced conversation and intersection of radical communities, so I'm
going to be showing Oakland Wiki to some of these folks for the first time
and reciting a few specially-selected articles on the intersection of
gentrification/displacement with technology, and technology with activism.
Come on out!

You're probably aware that most "life-hacking" involves ways of saving
money. What compensation can our "life hackers" expect from this major
cable network (as you put it)?
You may be familiar with our community's values about open data,
privacy and intellectual property. Can we assume that the footage and
data will be licensed as public domain, creative commons, or similarly
shared as a free asset for the people?

Subject: [sudo-info] MAJOR CABLE NETWORK SEEKS HACKER SPACES FOR NEW SERIES
To: info(a)sudoroom.org
Hello!
My name is Liz Phelps, and I'm a Casting Associate at Leftfield
Pictures in New York City. We're a full-scale television production
company responsible for programming such as Pawn Stars and American
Restoration on The History Channel, Oddities on the Science Channel,
and a host of other shows for networks including The Discovery
Channel, Bravo, and A&E.
I'm reaching out to you because we're in the process of developing a
new series about "Life Hacking" for a major cable network.
Specifically, we're seeking Hacker Spaces as well as individuals who
pride themselves on finding unique, technical tricks for managing
day-to-day life.
If anyone at your space considers themselves a "Life Hack Aficionado"
(i.e. someone excellent at finding creative solutions for dealing with
our modern world) we'd love to hear from them!
Please feel free to reach me at 212-564-2607 x2365 for more
information about the project. Similarly, if you know of any other
folks who might fit this description, it would be great if you could
share this information and encourage them to reach out.
Due to the fast-paced nature of TV Production, things are moving very
quickly on our end -- so if you are interested in learning more
information please be in touch very soon : )
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks,
Liz
