Hi all!
I'm excited to announce a new monthly event that will be held on Third
Fridays at sudo room: POSSE [Potluck Orientation Skill-share Swap-meet
Event) Parties!
Bring some food to share and meet local visionaries creating a more
cooperative economy through alternative currencies such as timebanking,
skill-share and resource-exchange circles.
This is a family-friendly event, and childcare will be provided. Thinking
this is also a great way to make one of our weekly 'Hacker Happy Hours'
…
[View More]more family-friendly and health-oriented (though of course, no beverage
turned away!).
I'll be printing fliers at sudo today and will leave some on the main
table. It would be great if folks could help with outreach, so grab a few
fliers and post them up at your coffeeshop / community center / library /
public space of choice!
Event is on the sudo room calendar:
https://sudoroom.org/ai1ec_event/bace-timebank-posse-party/?instance_id=663…
And there's also a FB event - please join if you plan on coming, and invite
your friends!

Flier attached. Special thanks to BACE [Bay Area Community Exchange]
Timebank for putting this on :)
Hack the planet!!

Hi all,
If anyone is interested in a kick-ass garage sale this Saturday, come check
out Central Self Storage in Alameda:
http://www.centralselfstorage.com/p/self_storage/directions/alameda-ca-9450…
This place is walking distance from our 84-unit apartment building that
will be closing down next month, so I expect there will be way more great
stuff for sale than usual. Carla and I will be there all day (8am-3pm),
trying to get rid of some really nice pieces, including some Indonesian and
…
[View More]African carvings, various statues, large glass bottle vases, some
furniture, etc.
In other words - Come buy some of our crap, so we don't have to move it!
Some of it is really nice crap too!

Linux? How does it work? How does Linux development happen? How do I do
____ in Linux?

computer if you …
[View More]have a specific problem, or just bring yourself. No
question is too basic.
And for fun and inspiration, check out this timeline of Linux development

Dear All,
I'm very pleased to reach out to you on behalf of the team at Synthego
to see if there are any skilled software, hardware or mechanical
engineers (at Sudo room or Counter Culture Labs) that would be
interested in working with a cutting edge DNA synthesis company based in
Silicon Valley?
I've cc'd Colton Hicks who's a successful serial tech entrepreneur and
also taking the lead in recruiting potential employees for Synthego. I
spoke with him yesterday and let him know there may …
[View More]be some engineers
interested at Sudo Room or CCL (they're working on some very neat tech!)
if you're interested in a position please feel free to reach out to
Colton directly and send your interests and skill set to him.
There will be a party coming up in the valley next Saturday where you
can get a chance to meet the Sythego team and speak with them as well if
you're interested in joining the team!
All the best,
Ryan

Hey all. I'm borrowing the sudo bike (the black framed one) for a few days while my own bike is being repaired. It shouldn't be more than 3 or 4 days. Also the blue framed bike is still at the space.

please complete the following poll to indicate your availability for a one
or two day event either the weekend of july 20-21 or 27-28 for a sudo room
inventory, clear out, and rearrange event.

ps - my perspective is that we will probably need two days (day 1 to take
everything out/take inventory and day 2 for rearranging & putting things
back in), but i understand that other people also apparently have lives and
commitments :)
Lockers are acquired! There are 5 units with 2 lockers each. Each of
these 10 lockers has a small square shelf and a tall L-shaped shelf.
It turns out these don't need built-in locks, they just have loops to
put a padlock through. So folks should probably acquire their own
padlocks.
How much should we charge for them? I was thinking we could charge a
flat rate per locker, and we can share them for discount rates. Who'd
like to share with me? :)
The ad asked for $50 but the guy dropped it to …
[View More]40 when he learned what
they are for. Instead of reimbursing me, I'll just let it go towards
my locker tab.
Although membership is of course sliding scale, we should make it
clear that locker dues aren't meant to be a substitute for member dues
or a new form of special membership. It's just another fundraiser.
So everybody pay up, help us cut down on clutter, and enjoy your new lockers!

Has anyone seen the folding #fort table or know where it's stashed, it was
