I vibe coded first, made the tutorial with vibe code, this is fun to riff on

I tried talking with my representative about this two weeks ago, to not
much success. Please include me in this effort, and 3d printing is very
important to the retro computing community, as well as the right to
repair efforts.

A pod of us conversed upon this topic under the NAILS sign at sudoroom
tonight. A brief overview of our discussion includes:
- we have friends we can message about this
- you need people power (like, a thousand people!) to get them to pay
attention. picket signs!
- let's say we do make 3d printers live out of parts we print onsite
with other 3d printers lol. so many details need to be ironed out: power
source. tables. tent structure. where to do it. who we are targeting to
get their attention
- let's say we perform a teardown of a 3d printer with explanations of
each part and a long list of what else in all kinds of industries each
part is used in. this shows that 3d printer parts are not regulatable
individually! and that these are "commodity" parts
- YOU CANT REGULATE A SCREWDRIVER
EFF is working on it too:

permission-print-part-2 <https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/04/print-

let's get involved! we don't have a plan yet but let's make one! email us!

Sounds predictably terrible. The timeline for doing anything is also
very tight. Dreaming a little here..
Could "we" get a protest/demo together up in Sacramento, where we
publicly and visibly build a bunch of 3D printers, to tangibly
show the legislators (and their staff) what it is that they are
foolishly trying to control?
To make sense, it would have to be a scratch-build, RepRap-style,
not just unpacking a kit from China and bolting the pieces together.
The software needs to be Free with a capital F, and the parts need
to be commodities such that nobody can point at e.g. the extruder and
say "let's regulate that".
By "we" I hope that includes some other Bay Area and Sacramento
maker communities, not just sudo room. Whatever can be arranged in
this stupidly short timeline. The political angle is important,
so Democratic Club help would also count.
My mind races to lots of details. If anyone thinks this is a good
idea and possible to organize in this time frame, please continue
this thread!

Welcome to our wonderful SudoCat!

I "sketched" him about 10 years ago but used generative AI to rig and make
a 3D model. I want to share him and show him walking around the space...
more to come
