Correcting myself on laptop power draw:

Looks like idle laptop power draw, on average, is well below the mac mini's 23W.
FWIW, I think the Mac minis, if loaded with a lightweight linux distro, could be used for
a basic coding class, or perhaps a DVD player.

Assuming the info I found is right
(https://energyusecalculator.com/electricity_laptop.htm), an average laptop uses 60w. So
the mini might be a good solution for us. I don't have the expertise necessary to
test/compare power draw of a given laptop though; would anyone be interested in doing so?

I think I also saw some mac minis at SudoRoom
(not sure if they work), so
another idea is to use one of them as a replacement computer.

I believe Rajah knows of a laptop that
doesn't have a working screen, which
would be perfect for that TV. It would have wifi and can be attached to
the
wall right under the TV, and a mouse and keyboard can be plugged in if
necessary (although i'm skeptical if that's a good idea)
