it's "operating" in the sense that it's in the process of being configured, and we plugged a single WAP into it in sudoroom so that people could make use of it. There is still a lot of work to be done to set it up and I want us to be systematic about the process and use the wiki for all changes, so that there is no single person who has to be asked about things, and people can cooperate on maintenance of it. I can start a wiki page if you like. But until I get some clarity, please rest assured that I have a log of all changes I make. So far all I've done is apt-get install a few utilities. Also please note for the record, if you look in /home/yar/backup on saros, you will see a record of every system configuration change since I installed it in 2017. I never do things without a paper trail. I'm definitely in favor of an "intentionally cooperative process", though I feel that's pretty vague, and a bit awkward considering that decisions have already been made so far which were neither inclusive nor documented. It's also hard not to take it personally, as I tried very hard to be inclusive and transparent and timely when I set up saros. I admit that I did not always update the wiki page, but I was always prepared to if anybody else showed a real interest, and was always happy to answer questions of anybody who asked. This would not be the first time that people in our community set a very high bar for a project, watch someone fail to meet that high bar, jump to conclusions without directly talking to them, attribute their failures to malice or personal negligence, assume that the best solution is to replace that person, and then find themselves making the exact same mistakes in the exact same ways.
