Thanks for the kind suggestions! There are a lot of bathhouses in the Bay Area.. Don't
think this one is the one for me! (Distance , clientele on the website ) it's not bad
as a place but I'm just not that into it
My friends have recommended several excellent bathhouses in the east bay over the years ..
I'll confine this thread on a positive note and update you / invite you along on my
adventures.
I've had incredible fun at the north Berkeley bathhouse . The lighting makes you feel
weirdly like a sex worker. I'm not sure id want to go there with sudoroom (or would
I?
It feels sleazy but that's why we love it.
It feels like a place people elope to. It should be in a hip hop video. The tinny radio
makes you feel even more like you're eloping with some navy guy listening to Bon jovis
living on a prayer
There's no pretense of wellness at the north Berkeley bathhouse .. Which doesnt mean
it's better! But it's weird. They should have a gigantic blow up poster of al
Pacino from taxi driver on the door and Jodi foster projected against a wall. That's
how apocalyptic the flickering bulb is. It's like how you used to walk wasted to Times
Square from the limelight in the 1990s at 5 in the morning and shut yourself in a booth
with sva people watching horrible horrible things wiping the grime off your face and
laughing while holding a bunch of cast off flowers in your arms you found in the floral
district

Did you watch the video? You should totally watch the video.
Also, you don't have to be bougie to want nice things. I completely reject the notion
that only grungy things can are worth while.

Sonja's assertion that the banya in question certainly not "bougie", but
more "new russian". The historical context and intersections between these two
descriptions is another discussion, but if anything I'd describe the clientele at the
Russian-Turkish bathhouse in NYC as more "bougie".
