Was Sudo or other groups at Omni planning to have a table at the Temescal
Street Fair this Sunday <http://temescalstreetfair.org/>? This is a great
opportunity to reach out to our immediate neighborhood in a very visible
fashion.
CCL will be there with at least a table or two, and it sounds like BAAM may
have up to five mushroomy tables as well.
We were offered free space to exhibit at the Fair, but I am not sure
exactly where our tables will be - somewhere at the intersection of 48th
and Telegraph - or how much total space we will have available. I believe
Ken Litchfield has been our main contact person for those kinds of
logistics.

One of the ideas suggested at one of the Sudo meetings last week was to
just have a table full of ewaste gear, screw drivers, pliers and hot glue,
for kids to take stuff apart and put it back together again. That always
used to be a very popular activity at Maker Faire. (They stopped doing that
a few years ago - possibly out of liability concerns: sharp edges, lead
solders, you name it...)

Adding the mesh list, as this would be a great opportunity for neighborhood
outreach, and we could set up some of the hardware and promote our next
BYOI (build your own internet) workshop on July 1st.
Unfortunately, Marc and I can't help to coordinate as we're out of town
until the 27th, but I believe Grant said he'd be down, and maybe others
would be interested?

Thanks for passing along this info. We are definitely interested in having
a peoplesopen.net table at the Temesecal Street Fair. After a brainstorming
meeting we have a few logistical questions:
**do we need to bring a table or are tables provided?
**when can we begin setup? 11am?
**what is the electricity/power situation?
I will send along meeting notes and other information regarding
preparations to the mesh list. I'm not sure if sudoroom proper has any
plans of having a table.

**Tables are from Omni whatever we have and best format that you need.
The arrangements that I made with the Business Improvement District and the
fair contractor is that we provide all our infrastructure and then they
don't have to provide and charge us which is why we can do this for free
instead of booth fees.
**Some Omnifolks are going to be setting up as early as 9am. As long as you
are setup and ready by noon start time that should be fine. Takedown starts
at 6 closing and likely happen pretty quickly. Not sure what time they
officially open the street to traffic but I would imagine around an hour
after closing if last year's fair is any indication.
**Looks like we can have an outlet from one of the businesses for free and
put a power strip on it for all Omnier's needs. Which should be rather
minor except when CCL is doing a casting demo and has to heat a low temp
metal. Other draws would be turned off temporarily during the periodic
casting demos. As a backup plan CCL may be doing the heating at Omni and
bring the molten metal over that way. Omni/CCL/BAAM/SUDO provides their own
extension cords and other infrastructure.
You can represent your group to the public however you like whether it is a
project of SUDO per se or distinguished independently, but it is all under
the umbrella of Omni as far as the BID and Fair contractor are concerned.

Hey Jose,
I'm coordinating the Omni presence with the Business Improvement District
and the Temescal Street Fair contractor. Looks like we'll have a presence
in various fashions with CCL, BAAM, ABDC, FNB, SUDO, Omni overall, and now
CSC.
We'll be setting up at roughly the corner of 48th and Telegraph with some
folks perhaps starting setup at 9am.
I take it you need a single table and will primarily talk to the public and
distribute information. Please let me know of any other details like
activities or whatnot and your needs, and any other questions you may have.
For the extent of the fair planning if you need to communicate or
coordinate with me please continue in writing with email for clarity,
especially at this late date.

**Some Omnifolks are going to be setting up as early as 9am. As long as
you are setup and ready by noon start time that should be fine. Takedown
starts at 6 closing and likely happen pretty quickly. Not sure what time
they officially open the street to traffic but I would imagine around an
hour after closing if last year's fair is any indication.
**Looks like we can have an outlet from one of the businesses for free
and put a power strip on it for all Omnier's needs. Which should be rather
minor except when CCL is doing a casting demo and has to heat a low temp
metal. Other draws would be turned off temporarily during the periodic
casting demos. As a backup plan CCL may be doing the heating at Omni and
bring the molten metal over that way. Omni/CCL/BAAM/SUDO provides their own
extension cords and other infrastructure.
You can represent your group to the public however you like whether it is
a project of SUDO per se or distinguished independently, but it is all
under the umbrella of Omni as far as the BID and Fair contractor are
concerned.

preparations to the mesh list. I'm not sure if sudoroom proper has any
plans of having a table.

Adding the mesh list, as this would be a great
opportunity for
neighborhood outreach, and we could set up some of the hardware and promote
our next BYOI (build your own internet) workshop on July 1st.
Unfortunately, Marc and I can't help to coordinate as we're out of town
until the 27th, but I believe Grant said he'd be down, and maybe others
would be interested?
I like the 'take stuff apart' idea, Patrik :)
