This kind of equipment would be a significant commitment and investment in time and effort on our part, so let's coordinate on this shall we? I for one would be super interested in this, especially for our plant cuticle/epidermis and chloroplast manipulations, and general curiosities of course. Pollen photography is also a thing. $15k is bonkers but seems like the going rate. Wish there was a way you could just rent time to use one. I also hear EMs are getting smaller and more affordable in general... Let's hope. If that's true then may be smart to wait it out. Well, we've already had a chance to get a free EM twice before. Things didn't quite work out those times, but I would not be surprised if we got another opportunity some time down the road. Verified scans of 100nm^2 If someone has a project for it, specifically imaging ( it lacks control systems for manipulation ) please let me know.
