https://omnicommons.org/wiki/Leaks There appears to be some confusion about how to semi-permanently mark the location of leaks, so that the roofer knows where on the roof to fix them.. In short, we need to mark an 'X' on the floor where the leak is. If you see a leak, please quickly mark it on the floor - don't wait.. Buckets do get put out currently, but then of course, they get moved when the rain stops - and so the info about where the leak originated on the roof is basically lost, and then the roofer doesn't fix it, and it leaks again..and so on and so forth. I made the wiki page in the hopes that this SOP regarding leaks will spread and remain persistent throughout the omniverse. . thank yoo David

do not sit on ballroom SW corner bench rite now (being worked on)?

Hey guys, I'm planning on remediating a liability and building code issue with the ballroom bench bench running into the middle of a small staircase leading from the ballroom floor to the 'maintenance closet' in the SW corner of the ballroom, by cutting down the length of this bench of the West side such that the stairs are properly exposed. All the bolts have been removed, but it is still affixed with either glue or deeply embedded nails on the SW corner side, won't budge, and I need to cut the very end off to remove it, but my Fein saw is gone and my skillsaw is at home.. so it's still in place. For the time being please do not sit on this bench and definitely leave the 'do not sit' signs up. David

Card Swipe not working - door stuck in unlocked position

Hey y'all I'm not sure how to fix this - I did the very technically savvy thing where you unplug stuff and I also tried turning the power off and on but even those pro moves didn't work. Any tips? xo N

If you lift the mail slot and the motor makes sounds like it's trying, but the sticks don't move, it sounds like something is wrong. I don't know what, and i'm in Texas and I won't return until Wednesday, so i can't help. If you need to lock the door and the motor is not working, take out the screw that holds the top of the motor to the stick. Dear everyone, [[The time is now to get up to fire-code. We're going to move the books out of the library, TOMORROW (Saturday) at 11am. Lunch will be included (multiple choices from the Munchery). In fact, you could get lunch and grab an extra lunch for dinner!]] There are several people who have been and continue to work hard on both the construction side and bureaucratic side of getting our beloved Commons up to code and permitted to we can be open to the public. But we must step up and help out with this process to honor the hard work folks are doing and to not jeopardize any of that work or our chances at becoming open to the public soon. In the next couple weeks an informal meeting will take place at the Omni with city permitting officials, where we'll have the opportunity to show them our space and hopefully get a better chance at getting our permits without having to raise huge amounts of money to make changes to our building. One of the first things *we absolutely must do* is remove the books and couches from the basement. Why? Because right now the city wants us to put a sprinkler system in the basement, which would cost us tens of thousands of dollars. What can we do? Give them no reason to believe the basement is a fire-hazard. This means we remove ALL of the books and other paper media, like magazines, as well as removing the couches (the pews can stay). *If anyone has extra boxes, please bring them along as we might need more than we have in the space.* On Saturday morning at 11am we'll convene at the Omni for a quick meeting to co-ordinate and then begin to box up all the books in the library and move them to a safer area. There's a ton of books and we need to deal with them somehow, so the more of us that are there the faster it will go! This should only take us two hours, so expect to be done by 1pm at which time we'll all eat lunch together and share camaraderie. Please write back with any questions or clarifications and pass this on to relevant individuals or lists. with love st
