Call for Facilitators / Participants in a sudo Men's Group

Hey all, I wanted to reach out for some feedback. Seeking folks who would want to facilitate or participate in a men's group. I've previously participated in small groups like this and found them beneficial for various reasons. I would like to see if folks have had similar or different experiences. The way I'm thinking about this would culminate in something like a regular meeting for men in the sudo room community to discuss relevant issues including those of identity, oppression, privilege, patriarchy, gender, sexuality, stereotypes, safe space, and mutual support. This may not be the best or even a viable path to approach these topics, but I wanted to throw it out there to see if there is any interest. Thanks, Matt

Omni Crowdfund Perks!

Hi all! We are in the last stages of preparations to launch Omni's crowdfunding campaign next weekend, and we need your help! Please use this thread to brainstorm on perks we could offer, keeping in mind that *experiences* are cheaper to produce and more interesting to donors than shwag. * Would any sudoers be interested in co-hosting maker workshops? * How about making robot drawings (and recording the robot drawing it) based on SVG images people send in? * Can anyone bottom-line making 3D printed magnets? Hi Helen, the truth is that there is no one in charge of the sewing machines, and if you feel qualified to work on them and improve them, you should go ahead and do that. If you can document what you're doing, it will help if you can either do that on paper by the machines, or preferably by editing the sudoroom wiki. If you are not familiar with Wiki editing, there are people who can help you get started with that. I brought in the Embroidery machine, and I know a little about how it works, but i'm no expert. We appreciate anything you can do to help get all the machines working just right. Note; one of them is a button sewing machine. I think it was mistaken for a serger (which we do not have, but we want) so I am hoping it can be returned and we can get a serger instead. Also we have a very nice "juki" sewing machine that is apparently missing its oil pan. I think oil pans can be made out of sheetmetal, or bought on ebay, but anyway that machine would be a good replcaement for the older machine on the wooden table, if we can get it to work better than that one. thanks you for your help! -jake On Fri Nov 28 Helen wrote: Hello, I recently was invited to sudoroom to check out the sewing machines and have tinkered with them a little bit. Here's a link to a few images of a low cost "Tiny Home" concept based on truck camper RV's which are available for free or very cheap: https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/106839673035751587991/albums/60779607855… The catch is that the jacks used to raise and lower these campers are no longer functional due to structural issues with the wood frame. So I devised a way in which the camper can be rolled onto the back of a car trailer and then rolled off onto a wood platform foundation. You can see this in some of the attached images. One advantage of the truck camper is that it is not technically a "RV" since it has no wheels plus it is less than 120 square ft. So if you have a property to put one of these on then no permit is required. However, people absolutely hate these things so I modify it to make it look like a small shed. I have two of these tiny homes setup now, one in Marin near China Camp and another in the NE corner of California on a 10 acre farm. There's also an image included of a tent cabin which is technically a "fabric covered agricultural processing structure" in the eyes of the law. The land use is described as a "Tree Sanctuary" where we rescue small endangered trees and reintroduce them into the wild, hence the justification for occupying the property which we own freely with no mortgage or other banking encumbrances. Sewing machines

Hello, I recently was invited to sudoroom to check out the sewing machines and have tinkered with them a little bit. I've identified some problems, missing pieces, etc. and want to keep working on/with them, but I'd like to talk to anyone else who has used them or whoever brought them there. STATUS UPDATE: I have just arrived with a number of pies that were donated by Kevin. (That number of pies is four.) To accompany the pies, Kevin also donated five bottles of wine. I have donated three bottles of Champagne. SO we have desert and some beverages but nothing on the food front except (nourishing) green beans. There are 3 “orphans" currently. Join us, bring your food.
