We had something wonderful going with Sudo Kids. iirc, people from
Hayward were actually driving up here for it. I hope very much that we
can reboot this at our new space.
Vicky has been talking to the OUSD after school program. Oakland
International school is a few blocks from the omni.
I was going to do another library teenzone event this month but burned
out with Omni stuff. TBA.
With respect to the diversity of human kinship structure, I would much
prefer to frame this as accessibility for all ages, rather than
"families vs singles".
Dear All,
As many of you know I'll be speaking at the Techonomy Bio conference on
participatory biology and I just spoke with David the CEO of Techonomy and
we discussed ensuring that the entire biohacker/hacker community is able to
attend regardless of financial means.
http://techonomy.com/conf/bio/
David was very generous in extending an invitation to everyone in the
community to ensure affordability wasn't an issue, if you'd like to attend
please email Tim (cc'd in this email) and David directly and they'll ensure
that the cost of attendance isn't an issue for anyone who would like to
join from the community.
Looking forward to seeing many of you today and onwards with the future,
hacking and collaboration :)
All the best,
Ryan

I got a report that the sudo door stepper motor is making noises but not
turning anything.
Sounds like a bad connection somewhere.
I'm out of town for a bit. Maybe someone else can take a look at it?

I left my power adapter on the main table inside sudoroom. Can someone who
is there stash it somewhere (and let me know where) so I can pick it up in
the morning? It's a small hp laptop adapter.
Thanks!
In this last East bay express there was an article "Hacking local in
Hayward" about a new hackerspaces Hayhackers. The article emphasizes their
young education aspects. Then a quote from Christina Depulta on other East
bay hackerspaces :
"they're either young singles or techies and software engineers or mothers
with children. We wanted to have a space for everybody. "
Do you think this is a valid rubric for a hackerspace's demographic, and
does sudo fit into one category? I wonder if having that kind of all
inclusive space is even a fantasy holy grail?
Just pondering the current state of our sudo-populous as we've now come to
be a reference point for new hackerspaces to judge themselves by.

Hi all,
Just wanted to remind people that there will be a cryptoparty tomorrow
at 2. While some of our regulars are out of town, we have a number of
new and qualified additions to our community, and some definite interest
in activism-focused crypto practices. This is for people of all levels
of comfort with tech and crypto tools - we'll help you put whatever you
want on your machines, as well as theoretical best practices and
vulnerabilities
Happy hacking,
S
Hey y'all!

Cables, were a bit of a mess (now just half).
I ended up removing about 9 unneeded cables.
Replaced the patch cable that was going from the router to the switch.
I found the modem hanging because of that.
Also, there was a loop in the DLink switch. Not good. no wonder the
intermittent service. No BuenO! *grin*
SSID: Sudoroom 3Mbps/.5
