These are the proposed changes brought up at the current sudo room meeting.
We will attempt to consense on this at the sudo room meeting on Wednesday
the 21st of May at 7 pm in sudo room.
===Section 2.1 Qualifications for Membership===
[...]
* Successfully completing the process for becoming a member, below:
====Section 2.1.0 Process for becoming a member====
#'''Declaration of Intent to Join'''
#* To become a member, a person must submit a brief written or spoken
"Declaration
of Intent to Join" where they answer the following questions:
#** What is your (pseudo)nym and/or name?
#** Why do you want to be a member of sudo room?
#** What are you excited about hacking at sudo room?
#** What are you excited about sharing with sudo room?
#'''Initial Pondering'''
#* It is only possible to become a member at the weekly sudo room meeting.
Prospective members should attend if possible but can submit a written
declaration if they are not able to attend in person.
#* At the sudo room weekly meeting, every prospective member must leave the
room while the existing members have a chance to bring up any concerns or
reasons why the prospective member(s) should not be allowed membership
(referred to as the "Initial Pondering").
#** The intent is for it to be very easy for new members to join, so only
very serious concerns should be brought up.
#** If any existing member objects to a prospective new member becoming a
member, and this cannot be resolved through discussion, then the
prospective member will not be allowed membership.
#** Unreasonable or frequent blocking of new members by an existing member
is grounds for immediate termination of membership based on a 2/3 vote.
#* Upon completing the "Initial Pondering", such prospective members must
be communicated to the sudo room mailing list within 24 hours, including
their "Declaration of Intent to Join".
#'''Extended Pondering'''
#* After the Initial Pondering, if there are no objections, there will be
one week for sudo room members to raise objections as to why the
prospective member should not be allowed to join (referred to as the
"Extended Pondering").
#* If there are no objections raised during the "Extended Pondering",
the prospective
member will become a member.
#** The intention is to provide sufficient time to ensure all concerns of
those unable to attend the meeting may be heard.
#* The new member will be added to the membership list and given access to
desired and relevant assets and services of sudo room.
#* No announcement of this change of status after the "Extended
Pondering"is necessary

Last week, our Gittip dropped by over $100/week. It seems like they
were purging expired cards, or made some other changes to their
system? Either way, please log into Gittip and confirm that you are
actually still giving the amount you originally signed up for. And
thanks for funding Sudo!
We got this message asking if we wanted 96 hours of effort from some bright
young talents. BAVC pays, we just mentor them. Clearly this is good for us.
Only, I can't see an obvious way that their skills fit with our current
projects. Does a budding 3d-animator/web-designer, or a Java/security
expert intrigue anyone?

Subject: [sudo-info] BAVC Interns @ Sudo Room?
To: info(a)sudoroom.org
Hi There!
I have two young motivated coders looking for a place to hack and learn
this summer! Check out their profiles below.
Ibo Ghania
<https://sites.google.com/a/bavc.org/bridges-y3/pods-spring-2014/code-design…>
Yukai Gong
<https://sites.google.com/a/bavc.org/bridges-y3/pods-spring-2014/code-design…>
BAVC pays the interns for up to 96 of work. Seems like it could be a
fantastic opportunity to join and support the Sudo community while building
skills. Let me know what you think!
Best,
Carrie

Just making a note for the record:
Tiri was sleeping in the recording closet.
Mumbly British male (from London) with blonde, longer hair and beard was asleep on a couch in the common space. Previously addressed this person on multiple occasions for sleeping, refusing to leave, and making members uncomfortable with ignorant language.

21 Technologies That Will Decentralize the World
By Nina Misuraca Ignaczak

<http://www.shareable.net/blog/21-technologies-that-will-decentralize-the-wo…>
Across the planet, new technologies and business models are decentralizing power and placing it in the hands of communities and individuals.
"We are seeing technology-driven networks replacing bureacratically-driven hierarchies," says VC and futurist Fred Wilson, speaking on what to expect in the next ten years. View the entire 25-minute video below (it's worth it!) and then check out the 21 innovations below. Thanks to Jenny Ryan whose Open Garden newsletter inspired this post.
Here are 21 innovations that will help make it happen:

FYI,
Timon was given verbal and written notice on the night of Thursday May
22, that he is not welcome at Sudoroom. At the following meeting,
Wednesday May 28, 13/13 members present consensed on this statement:
"Regardless of Timon's current membership status, we find him in 'bad
standing' with regard to sudo room's values, specifically with regard
to 'safe space'. We ban Timon from the sudo room, for an indefinite
period."
This was not a conflict resolution process, it was a ban in the
interest of safe space. That same meeting also consented generally that
2141 tenants don't have an inherent right to our common space and need
specific permission to access it.
BAPS has a policy of honoring all Sudoroom bans.

In a perfect world we would offer endless compassion, restoration and
reparation towards all beings. In this world, we don't have the time
or resources to provide the care everybody needs. We sincerely hope
they can find it elsewhere.
Timon,
your excessively rambling email is yet another example that you don't care
about anyone but yourself.
you've been given way too many chances to act like a reasonable human
being at sudoroom and 2141 broadway in general, and have shown no
interest in doing so. You won't even take responsibility for your lack of
food and housing, suggesting it is someone else's fault.
Instead you seem to believe only in non-consensual domination-based
relationships, where you try to overpower people with unwanted dialogue
and the kind of persistance that comes with having nothing else to do.
nobody is obliged to provide you with anything. And given the way you
treat all of my friends, as described above, i would prefer you stay away
from sudoroom and 2141 broadway, as was consensed upon by sudoroom.
your suggestion that ChrisBee wanted a fight with you when he informed you
that sudoroom has declared you unwelcome is ridiculous. Anyone who knows
you knows that the trouble all comes from you. please stay the fuck away.
