They graciously acknowledged that we had done an excellent job
cleaning and will probably get our full deposit back. Other than the
front door which they're claiming now "broke during our move-out" but
I think we can push back on that accusation.

It did not reappear so we do need a projector for the new space. Thanks!
Impressive Job Yar, Matt, Max, Jenn and last but defiantly not least
David and of cause all the other contributors I forgot to mention.
I wrote a little follow up on the sidewalk discussions

Maybe it lightens up the mood ab it amides all this serious walk through
stuff.
Good Luck on the Last Meters eh Yards and foots and inches.
Hey Laurie,
The rear stairway door lock was damaged? George didn't mention this at all
when we walked through the space today, and we certainly did not have any
trouble with that door for many months now. The other tenants of the
building use that door so frequently these days, we hardly even had an
opportunity to see it closed for too long before someone opened it up again
to go downstairs and back up. Some more information about that would be
great, like how it was broken and who is responsible for breaking it.
In fact, I pointed out to George how the 22nd St door entrance (not
stairwell door) had been broken at some point weeks ago at the least (if
not longer ago), though it remained partially functional. When I called one
evening, I believe last week, it was because of this issue, and I was able
to turn the cylinder into the correct position to make it functionally
use-able again (until perhaps it would become dislocated again, which it
did). I warned him about this lock because it looks to me like it may have
been intentionally broken (to break in to the building). Furthermore, we
rarely used a key to enter the building, unlike other tenants, so it is
clearly not from our regular (or even excessive) use that anything negative
would happen to this lock.
As for the front door keys, can you give me a total tally from your records
of the number of front door keys from each the Sudo Room and the Public
School? Today I gave George 2 front door keys (Broadway entrance to
staircase).
Thanks,
Matt

The deadbolts are pretty long, so I think it probably wouldn't be
enough. Probably the only way to automate this for now is to turn all
3 locks at once, or make a new locking mechanism.
can someone tell me if the front doors can be opened and closed, with the
deadbolts in the locked position, if the second door's top and bottom
latches are undone?
call me if you dont understand and can check the situation

I'm sorry to say I haven't seen this in a while.
Unfortunately, the landlord may have thrown it in the trash. I might
as well mention for the record, that George's very last act as our
landlord was to throw my bag, including my cell phone, in the public
trash can on the corner of Broadway & 22nd. No I'm not bitter, not at
all.
We don't have a full accounting of what is in every box. The only way
to know for sure is to help with unpacking and setting up the new
space. :)

It's more like a record of their polite self-effacement, frankly, and
I don't think reflects too poorly on them. Most of the items they left
were either bulk pickup, where today is the only day they could
realistically do it, or things we asked them to leave. Notice how he
is apologizing for leaving us clean, working appliances. And for not
waxing the floor scratch that we covered with our pews at the last
second. And listing things they DID do in the ostensible list of
things they didn't. Also, as I wrote elsewhere, our own move-in
process involved a lot of unintentional but unavoidable
bait-and-switch regarding how many things we took, when we did it, and
how long we took to do it, at one point settling into a de facto pizza
party instead of moving shit. It was still their house, and we weren't
paying them for that time. And don't even get me started about the
piano.
Of course we'll keep the email on record, but let's not kid ourselves
about who the record actually appears to favors. Besides, I think this
grand experiment can only work by fostering good faith and
forgiveness.

I've scrubbed his email and phone # from 3 messages in this thread:

If you make further replies, please scrub the quoted text so I don't
have to do it again. :)
Hi all,
what was the end result of operation deposit? Did the projector appear
again do we have one for tomorrows first awesome rebooted Sudomeeting? I
can bring one if need be.
