A couple Hardware Hack nights ago I brought a dual 10Gbe card (10Gb over
copper)
Hp 561FLR-T It has what looks like an offset pcie connector.
Jake thought it wasn't real pcie and he was right. Plug it in and
nothing. lspci shows nothing.
The connector is actually "Flexible-LOM" But someone has reverse
engineered it and designed an adapter:
https://github.com/TobleMiner/HPE-FlexibleLOM-adapter I got an adapter on
Ebay
which was probably copied from that github. And it works. Getting 8Gb up
and down on Sonic Fiber.
These cards are scavenged from old HP servers and you can get them cheap.
Like $20 for 2.
But I found a regular pcie card: Supermicro AOC-STG-i2T which can be found
for about $25 and
doesn't need an adapter.

So the new Raspberry Pi (5) computer as been announced and will be
available to order soon. I applied to the Raspberry Pi Foundation to host
a community demo event and was accepted.
I have just received 2 Pi 5 8GB kits.
So I am hoping to have the event on Saturday the 21st from noon to 3 at
Sudoroom. I don't see anything on the calendar that conflicts
Also I have been doing a low key "Pi meeting" on third Sundays of the
month. This group is an offshoot of the Berkeley Linux Users Group. It's
been just me and one or two others and more of "Hardware Hack - day
edition" then Raspberry pi.
Next one is this Sunday and all are welcome. Check out the new Pi 5 or
just stop by.
Below see the BerkeleyLUG announcement with details

Yes now we have a couple sets of the new Raspberry Pi 5 courtesy of the
Raspberry Pi Foundation.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/AYSi99pVMXtsf42y7
Meeting this Sunday the 15th from 11 am to 2pm or so
In person at Sudoroom 4799 Shattuck, Oakland, CA 94609
Virtually at meet.jit.si/Pi.BerkeleyLUG
My agenda will be working up a demo or presentation of the Pi 5
I want to create a Pi 5 demo event for the next week. I'm thinking
Saturday the 21st from noon til 3pm (so as not to conflict with the
Berkeley LUG
meeting on Oct 22)
My thoughts:
Run the 5 and the 4 side by side comparing (I have a pi 4 but I don't think
8GB)
Demo 2 cameras (the connector uses the small fpc like the one on the Zero)
Demo the USB3 -- maybe run a couple external ssds
Explore the pcie connector?! How? Connector is .5mm 16 pin FPC. I would
have to
solder such a cable to a pcie riser. I may have an M.2 extender so that
could get an
nvme drive on the Pi?
Anyways the Saturday event would be put out on the Sudoroom announce and
probably Meetup
via Peter Mui.

As you may have heard, CLP was not happy with being ejected from the Omni
Commons by the rest of the delegates on 9/28 after it became clear that their
goals were in opposition to Omni's mission and continued survival.
CLP (primarily Rafiq) have been waging a smear campaign/boycott on instagram
and by other public messaging, and so Omni has called a public meeting at 7PM
tonight (thursday) at Omni. In person.
If you care about Omni, and defending us against this boycott campaign and
people who will be showing up to discuss it (and ask questions) you should
show up.
Instagram post @omni.commons:
"We will host an in-person meeting Thursday 7-9pm at Omni, 4799 Shattuck. All
neighbors and community members are encouraged to join.
We will not hold an online meeting. Please disregard the google meet link.
We're sorry for the short notice"

Hey, Dropped off the printer with Toby and met a few folks who were excited,
skeptical, and questioning the printer. I figured I would share some info on
it.
Here is the page on the upgraded Z mod I did: https://seckit3dp.design/kit/triple-z
Here is the page for the main printer build: https://github.com/SecKit/SK-Go_SK-Mini
Here is some info on the firmware it can run: https://www.klipper3d.org/
(I think if you do some digging, you can find examples for the kinematic bed)
Here is the bed probe I used: https://coex3d.com/products/bltouch-v3-1-automatic-bed-leveling-probe
The stepper motor board used is big tree tech octopus v1.0 with TMC2209 drivers
If you have any other questions let me know :)
Also,
If you guys need volunteers or anything, let me know. I’d love to help out with really cool people like you guys.

Hi all:
RU going to Omni today or sometime soon? Can you check if there's an
umbrella at Sudoroom, perhaps near the table on the floor?
Phil Chin texted me early this morning: "Peter, I just realized that I
left my umbrella at Sudo Room. It should be on the floor where I was
sitting..."
TIA, -Peter
we have really stale information - I know from talking to people that we
have a lot of new 3D printers.
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Printing#Overview
I'll try to update the wiki and figure out the manuals for the new printers
we have
