I changed the subject line to the other thread we were talking about, with a public information monitor in the main entrance hall. I agree that sudoroom should have one too. Personally I don't like raspberry pi's, they're too expensive and I dislike broadcomm...but if we have them then i guess they're good for this purpose and are power-efficient. We have tons of monitors and can totally dedicate one on the sudoroom tables, facing the entrance, for a welcome screen. I recommend fixing the pi onto the back of the monitor and making the whole thing easy to pick up and move around. As for the entrance hall, it's the same basic idea, and so we should keep that in mind and work on both equally. We might even put a monitor outside the front door! The good news is that infection fatality rate has dropped to almost the same level as the flu, thanks to vaccinations, protection from prior infections, and improved drugs to treat Covid patients. It is still a pretty nasty disease though, so do yourself a favor, and keep that mask on indoors and whenever you're in a crowd! Patrik

French documentary interviews at Sudo Room?

Hi, An acquaintance of mine is a documentary filmmaker. He's in the Bay Area now, and is looking for people to interview at a hackerspace, about Silicon Valley -- positive or negative or nuanced or whatever. I told him about Sudo Room and CCL, and he thought it would be a good place to interview people, if people there are OK with it, and if there is anyone there who would like to be interviewed (especially women and POC). mask policy in sudo/omni

when I got to Sudoroom, a guy named Patrick was here and not wearing a mask. I welcomed him to sudoroom but I mentioned that building policy is presently that everyone has to wear a mask. He asked me who's in charge and who made that rule, and I explained how Omni is run by delegates from the individual collectives etc, and that we were complying with the law I believe. I would appreciate an update on our situation so that I can answer questions about our mask policy more accurately, if anyone can help me with that. As for Patrick, he explained that his "spiritual choice" (he doesn't like religion) is to not wear a mask ever. Then he said that if this is our policy, then he will gather his stuff and leave and never come back. I asked if he wanted me to contact him if our policy changes, and he said no, and left. -jake

Remember that Omni Commons and Sudoroom policy is presently that EVERYONE MUST WEAR A MASK AT ALL TIMES INSIDE THE BUILDING. (if you want to eat something you should go outside) in the past few weeks, we've had about 5-15 people over the course of the evening, not including remote participants who logged in through the telescreen.
