Hi:
Sudoers and CCLers might be interested in the STEM events in the
included email below.
Would someone be interested in organizing Sudoroom and/or CCL in
exhibiting at the Tri-Valley Innovation Fair? http://quest-science.org/
Sincerely, -Peter

Nicholas cleaned up the white Shapeoko CNC machine and then E and I worked
on it to get it working again. I think it was donated in 2017, and it's in
a very nice handmade wood enclosure.
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/CNC#SHAPEOKO
The spindle (cutting tool motor) wiring was chewed up by rats, but simply
connecting it to a variable power supply would be fine to get it running.
The actual motion controller is working fine.
Does anyone know what software we should use to generate g-code to carve
things out of wood or whatever? And to jog and home and run the machine?
It uses GRBL firmware, there are details on the wiki linked above

it looks like at 10PM last night someone installed a different web server on
the laser cutter computer last night? Lighttpd? Was this an annoying hacker
someone in the space actually trying to do something?

Hi Sudoers:
Here are three upcoming events of possible interest:
1) Thursday (tomorrow): Sudoer Ivan Silva is holding an inaugural
“Repair Advice Workshop” at the Belvedere Tiburon Library in
USA-CA-Tiburon 5:30-7:00 PST tomorrow, it’s a soft launch for an
activity he hopes to hold regularly at this library:
https://www.beltiblibrary.org/event?id=12874846
If you live nearby you’re most welcome to attend in person; Ivan may
also try to video stream us into the library at that time using Discord:
Global Fixers (see this Google Doc to join:
https://bit.ly/joinglobalfixers )
2) Friday: Fixit Clinic at Circuit Launch:
https://www.meetup.com/circuit-launch/events/305625116/
This is the monthly 3rd Friday Open House night for Circuit Launch: come
hang out with me and CC (and others) from 6:30 on, bring your own
projects to work on.
3) Saturday: the Cal Sailing Club holds its General Membership Meeting
at 1PM, this is a great chance to observe the best-run volunteer
organization I’ve ever seen in operation: https://www.cal-sailing.org/
Hope to see you at any (or all), -Peter
Hi everyone,
ALICE is bringing vegan leek potato soup tonight! Bring a cup and spoon!
Tonight I'll be hosting Sudoroom for those who want to come hack on whatever,
or fix things you bring, or help people fix things, as part of Fix-It Clinic
in the past few weeks, we've had about 10-20 people over the course of the
evening
Here it is on the sudoroom page:
https://sudoroom.org/events/categories/sudo-room-events/
I am usually there by 8PM but people do show up before me!
if you get to the door (at the corner of 48th and shattuck) and you can't get
in, call our telephone to get someone to let you in!
You can also come to the double doors on 48th street, this will be our "front
door" in the future, and this is where members are supposed to be coming in.
(442)252-8386 is our phone number, which spells "I HACK AT FUN"
We don't always hear the doorbell so please just call!
You should get on this sudoroom discuss mailing list! click here:
https://sudoroom.org/lists/postorius/lists/sudo-discuss.sudoroom.org/
It's easy to become a member! Just fill out this form, sign up for monthly
payments, and join the above mailing list.

see you soon!

Hi folks, I'm writing on behalf of Common Humanity Collective, a local mutual aid collective that distributes free masks and DIY air purifiers to the community. We've been looking for access to a laser cutter that has NOT come into contact with or been in the vicinity of any carbon fiber dust/residue - we don't want anybody breathing that in because we accidentally transferred some to our air purifiers!
I realize this might not be possible to answer b/c so many people have worked in the space, but have people worked with carbon fiber at sudoroom before? Are there any rules allowing/forbidding it from use? Any info would be helpful, thank you!
