The Noisebridge 10th Anniversary Exhibition and Ball will be happening on
September 9th and 10th. You are invited to attend and you are invited to
participate! We'll have places setup for people to display their projects
that they bring to the event, it you would like to bring some over.
1. We’ll be setting up Noisebridge to display projects, have panels and
presentations, share our stories, host classes and workshops, play games,
play music, and party.

BALL: Saturday September 9, 7:30pm-midnight

Hey Commoners,
I want to make sure everyone knows that we have a big all-day event on
Saturday 9/16 that is an opportunity for collectives to let politically
aligned folks know what is going on at the Omni. The Anarchist Bookfair is
an event we have wanted to host for a long time and I would love to see our
collectives have a presence. The fair will be using the entire entrance and
and ballroom floor area, but there are other things you can do if you don't
have an official table. Omni doesn't have one :/
I encourage you to:
- set up a table in either of the mezzanine areas with information about
what you are doing and how people can get involved
- have copies of your brochures ready to put out. If you aren't going to be
there, give them to another Omni group to display
The Sudo/CCL area will probably have a lot of people walking through to
check it out. It would be great to have people there ready to talk about
their group and the Omni.

i met w/Lisa Rein this afternoon. she asked me to do the live stream of the
Aaron Swartz Hackathon at internet archive on nov. 4-5.
she's going to pay me but i'm going to donate the $ to sudoroom.
if anyone wants to collaborate, plz, let me know.

semi-autonomous video corner for interviews or whatever
remote Barret Brown interview/presentation from texas
remote video exchanges from other hackathons

additionally, i'll be going to internet archive w/Lisa sometime in the next
few weeks & expect to get a chance to talk to Brewster about the $10,000 he
said he'd give Omni Commons when we bought the building :)

i am ordering repair parts for the sudoroom bandsaw, including "bandsaw tires"
(rubber rings that ride on the rollers inside the saw so the blade doesn't fall
off anymore)
but it's still missing the "throat plate" or "table insert" which is a square
plate with a slot cut into it, and it's what holds up the material being cut.
it needs to be 1/8" thick and 1.5" square, and then we can use the bandsaw to
cut the slot into it (that's the easy part)
it looks a lot like this, except it should be made of metal ideally:

however if it's made of plastic or acrylic or something not as strong as metal,
it will have to be thicker than 1/8" (except at the edges where it has to sit
on the shelf)

Hey!
Last year I realized that the notion of hackerspace and
hackers-as-makers, not just blackhat anarchists is totally absent from
the mainstream culture. Watch Dogs 2 had a huge opportunity to change
this, but they only presented warring gangs and vigilantes trying to
bring down evil corporations.
After gathering some stories from European, US and African Spaces I
decided to create Glider Ink - https://glider.ink/ , a fictional story
based on real events and characters I met. I have already managed to
find the most common archetypes and create five main characters based on
them: Inventor, Activist, Troll, Anarchist and Maker. I'd like to focus
on the community aspect and how we can create things together, as
opposed to the Silicon Valley lone genius concept.
Even though I originally wanted to set the story in Poland, I might be
changing that to some more or less defined European city. Seeing hackers
from all over the world, especially Kenya or Philippines I really don't
want to enforce the stereotype that all of them needs to be white.
I'm still working on a script which would be enjoyable both for actual
hackers and people who haven't heard about them before. All of my work -

Sadly, I found it that very few artists are up to the challenge of
trying a de-facto new genre, creating a positive outlook on technology
outside of dark cyberpunk. If you know any graphic novel illustrator who
might be interested in working on this project (fully paid of course),
I'll gladly meet them!
