I’m going to start writing a python script to handle the YASNAC communications protocol. once I make some progress, i’ll update the list with my repo. If anybody is interested in collaborating on this project, I think I would eventually like to make a web API to control the arm remotely. Hey folks in the Bocce Ball Room (CCL and Sudo), John is having the
skylights repaired starting tuesday! There are 6 skylights to replace.
Bellow are his remarks on what will be happening...
This is the procedure:
- Number the skylights
* 6 2*
* 4 3*
* 5 1 [dressing room #1]*
- Tuesday 1 & 2 will be worked on. Ricky doesn't think anything will drop
below. As a precaution of course please vacate that area. Ricky will put
down tarps.
- Next 3,4 then 5,6 on other days.
The schedule is somewhat flexible. Possibly #1 can be worked on in the
morning, then #2 in the afternoon to make a smaller disruption footprint.
Possibly it will go faster.
The existing vents on 3,4,5,6 will be kept, allowing OOC to later install
exhaust fans if desired. The replacement panels will be laminated glass.
Let me know if you have more questions for him.

Hi all,
I have an unexpected chunk of free time on Saturday, and I was hoping to
use it to start prepping the floors in CCL. Should be done well before the
CR event at 6pm.
I'm not planning to use a heavy-duty grinder, just a concrete prep tool like
this <http://www6.homedepot.com/tool-truck-rental/Concrete_Prep_Tool/12570/>.
I've never used one of these, but I would still expect it to make a
substantial amount of noise - at a minimum like running a high-powered
vacuum for a couple of hours. I may try to cut down on dust by running it
wet, if that is an option.
I know this is short notice, but I hope we can make it work - the floors
are the #1 obstacle holding up progress getting our lab up and running
right now, and there's just not that many times I can carve out a big chunk
of time.
It would be good if someone can check this with John as well, since we'll
be making noise right underneath him...

Hi all,
I realized that for certain people who have been consistently working very,
very, very hard on the ADA & Fire Prev. infrastructure and ballroom almost
every day the last few weeks specifically in preparation for the CR event,
that its important these folks all have a chance to actually see and
feel their hard work come to fruition and even $15 may be too much.
Therefore I would like to propose an ultra late breaking request that the
following people have Omni buy their ticket, if they want to go:
- Benjamin Burke (sudo)
- Oskar (omni)
- TJ (sudo)
- Sean (sudo)
- Maximillian (FNB)
- Yar (sudo)
MANY of us have been working very hard on the ballroom, but these folks
above really have put in crazy hours for weeks straight now. I do not mean
to discount in any way the hard work of everyone.. I just feel like the
above folks have really gone just so far above and beyond, that their
effort needs to be recognized and this would be a very good way to do it.
This sort of selfless support is so admirable and inspiring and cant be
taken for granted -
Yes, I am also too broke to go, but it feels weird asking for myself
obviously. Itd be nice though and i really wish i could.
Anyhow If its okay with people id like to ask these folks get their ticket
from omni.

i am worried that the fans that are in the ceiling now will be removed,
and we will no longer have the option of attaching long ducts to them for
localized air/fume extraction.
is there some way we can request that the fans remain there somehow? or
some way to ventilate air out of the room? I think this is really
important.

John the landlord just came through Sudo & CCL with a couple roofing
contractors. He is going to pay to replace all the skylights in CCL &
Sudo next week. We have six. They expect to replace two per day on
Tuesday (23), Wednesday (24) and Thursday (25), moving from north to
south. Work may extend into Friday. They are requesting that we clear
the areas underneath so they can lay tarps and avoid
death/destruction/mayhem. So that means:
On Tuesday, CCL should push stuff towards Sudo
On Wednesday, CCL & Sudo should clear stuff from the middle
On Thursday, Sudo should push stuff towards CCL
We don't have to move everything, they can lay tarps over things and
figure out how to work around, but we will certainly want to move some
stuff.
The new skylights won't be bubbles, but will be flat safety glass. A
contractor told me "a person could walk on one". So this will be great
once we get roof access. Also if we ever see rain again.
Sorry for cross-posting to so many lists. Please remove lists from
your reply as necessary. :)
Anyone on this list know anyone traveling from Chicago to the bay area who could be trusted to transport a CNC kit as carry-on baggage?

also.. i noticed that none of the stuff in the internet factory upstairs
is labeled - it's just wires going here and there that you have to follow.
