November 8 is Aaron Swartz Day (Aaron's birthday) (
http://www.aaronswartzday.org) and folks are hosting hackathons in many
cities. I knew Aaron when he was a kid helping with RSS and other
protocols. A more recent friend of his, Lisa Rein, asked me if Sudo Room
would host the Sunday part (9 Nov) of the San Francisco hackathon. So...
1. Are you interested in attending? In hosting/facilitating?
2. Availability/use of Sudo's and Omni commons spaces for hackathon
purposes? On Sunday I see "Phat Beets is going to have an event to
highlight their youth program! They will need 4 hours in the ballroom (yet
to be set in stone). They are paying to rent the space." Is this a conflict?

Tonight at Omni Film Night (in the basement) we'll be hacking a Hacker
night!
We'll be showing the new documentary, 'The Internet's Own Boy' followed by
a discussion about Aaron Swartz, the state of information in the digital
age, the word "Hacker", and more.
Any and all are welcome to come and join the discussion.
To end the night on a light note, we'll also feature the 1995 movie
'Hackers'.
As always, it's BYO(Drinks, Snacks, Pillows, Blankets, etc), but popcorn
and tea will be provided.
The first movie starts around 7:15, so don't be late!

Hi everyone! Our first SF LocalWiki editathon at Double Union in August was
fun, so let's do another one on Sunday afternoon from 4-6 pm or so (we
could extend it a little earlier or later if that's easier for anyone).

The second part of the post proposes a theme - feminist, women-centered,
queer-centered, and/or trans-centered spaces and history in San Francisco.
It includes a bunch of links to local history materials that I've been
excited about. The area around 16th & Valencia is really rich in
interesting stories, and it makes a lot of sense for Double Union to help
bring them out and share them. :)
A related thing I've been doing is sending article links to the Mission

Remember how a few weeks ago we all got together to shoot a video? Well,
the good news is it's almost done! But before we can publish our
Kickstarter/Indiegogo/whatever campaign, we've gotta rustle up some perks

Damn, wish I had taken a closer look at that event description. I
agree with hep, it looks pretty alienating. Let's have a robot-themed
halloween party instead. Beep boop.
