sudo'ers,
*This Friday we got Happy Hacker Hour from 7pm!* We shall indulge
- the glorious company of each other!
- exploratory conversation on the topics of Asterix.*
- wonderful homebrews from subiir (by Juul & yours truly)
- the documentary about the pirate bay, TPB_AFK
- unimaginative snacks (or imaginative? Feel free to bring some experiments)
Please bring some bucks for donations!
See you tonight and Friday, and make a great day,
Morten
Heres the saga thusly:
There are 6 pews for free in vallejo. They are a beautiful mahogany with orange/red seating. They are 16 feet long.
Marty was going to haul them with his truck but unfortunately the bed is too short. :(
So we turned to Craigslist for a mover. We found one who would do it for $60! Woot! We had it set up for 9 this morning. He calls at 8 and says his truck bed is too small. :(
So we looked up prices from U-Haul. $30 bucks for a 17' moving van. Sounds perfect. …
[View More]Unfortunately the fine print says U-haul charges $1 a mile. Vallejo is apprx. 30 miles away. So we are looking at something around $100-$110 with gas & bridge.
So any ideas, Sudoers? Anyone have access to a flat-bed? Or want to chip into the cost of the U-Haul? The church lady was so nice; she said she would hold them for another day if we could get it together. When I remarked on her niceness she said it was the "Jesus" in her. :)
Ideas?

After a long period of semi-benign neglect of the weightier aspects of the
Excheqing, I am happy to pass the function on to the eminently qualified
Tommy York. In addition to having drafted a new set of fiscal solvency
sheets for us which look like they will serve us very well, he brings
experience running coop finances and a business degree to the task.
This could not come at a better time, since the regular budget surpluses I
mostly passively functioned over mean that we will very soon be
…
[View More]crowdfunding sudo projects with our surplus income. My day job is now to
write an accounting system for a crowdfunding and community currency
platform with significant conceptual overlap with our own financial
processes, and to the extent I am able contribute this sort of automation
to what we do at sudo room, I will deeply appreciate the guidance and
leadership of someone with a firm handle on the business issues at the core
of things.
As is our ancient sudo custom, after the obligatory series of polite, coy
refusals by Tommy, the Excheqatorial sceptre was dropped and waved in the
prescribed manner, and the information on the accounts was handed over, and
the ritual of assumption is now complete.
Welcome to the future, Tommy!

Dear All,
Please see my notes from the meeting earlier this evening in Berkeley with
the Tekla labs team! More to come!
Tekla labs notes (UC Berkeley meeting)
- Nerd night - pitching a few different maker events to Nerd night around
Makers, would love East Bay DIY Bio and Sudo room ideas
- Tekla would love our thoughts on top list of biotech equipment we'd want
and costs for build commercial and makers
- They're interested in unique DIY bio use cases and also anyone interested
in taking part …
[View More]in their design contests
- Cinnaholic - comes highly recommended
- They'd like to think of some medium sized project to work with Sudo room
and East Bay DIY bio
- Tekla labs site - they'd love to share more high quality guides to
building biotech equipment, the idea is to make it a community
- They have some kits for making magnetic stirers, if anyone is interested,
they were thinking of doing this for work shop weekend (possibly partnering
with us)
- they're establishing profiles for all biotech do'ers from researchers in
latin america through to hobbyists and welcome anyone to set up a profile,
not fully automated but they can walk you through

Hello Sudoers! A friend alerted me to the availability of free pews! They
are made of dark mahogany. Asking Matt if Sudo Room needed some pews, he
said, "YES!" So the nice lady is holding them for us, but we need to act
fast (large numbers of calls and interest).
I would like to request 2 of them but the rest can go to my favorite hacker
space.
Truck please!
Cheers,
Ray
txt sam if you have a truck and can fetch these fine pews. 914.400.5604
