Regardless of the final aesthetic, I think we need a total reboot. Empty it
to zero, deep-clean everything from the rafters down, epoxy the floor,
stack pallet racks along the south half, and have a clean table & work area
along the north half. The pallet racks can store stuff. Whatever doesn't
fit in there, goes.
Any object stored at Sudo should be endorsed by at least 3 people, the way
we do with new members. If it doesn't get that endorsement, it goes. If
there isn't energy to "curate" something, it goes!
Clutter is the #1 impediment to all of our goals. It prevents long-term
improvement projects, enables filth & biohazards, and sends extremely
negative social signals that repel newcomers, like "we don't care about you
or your health", "we don't have room for you", able-bodied people
only",
etc.
Hoarder mentality will be the death of sudoroom. We have been doing it that
way for 8 years and it hasn't worked. The community is tiny, and almost
entirely middle-aged white men, even more so than it was in 2014. I believe
this is no coincidence. Please please please let some change finally
happen. Let us start from scratch and not be a total shithole and maybe
even grow to be sustainable someday.
I don't spend any time there anymore because I like breathing clean air and
touching surfaces made of non-poison.
