Hello!
Oh dear. Oh, well. I'd really hoped for a SudoRoom location because you
guys are awesome. The event needs to be held that particular weekend
because it's an international event organized by NASA and all the sites
around the world are working on the same problems throughout the weekend
with collaboration across sites.
I'll try a couple of other place I have in mind, and let you know where we
end up. I'd love to see some Sudoers there!

We're shooting for about 100 people total, and we'll need access to
projectors, power, internet, tables, chaires, fridge space, and space to
set up food. I've never been to SudoRoom, so I am not sure on whether the
space would be suitable. Lisha, any thoughts?

I hadn't reached out to Ace Monster Toys because I didn't think that they
had enough room for 50 - 100 people. Am I wrong about that?
BTW, Fridge space is nice, but not a show-stopper.
I haven't seen the new space where you are. The last time I was at SudoRoom
was back at the old space at Broadway and 22nd or 23rd or whatever that
was. However, theoretically, we could live without the Ballroom on both
Friday and Saturday night if
1. We can move people to another space in the building when the Ballroom
access closes on Saturday.
2. We can either skip the Friday night pre-party (but that's no fun!) or
have the pre-party somewhere else.
Thoughts?

If you want space to set up food, the basement might actually be a better
space for you. I think we can fit 100 people in the Basement Hall and you
would be able to set up projectors, power, table, chairs, food, etc.
One thing I'm not sure you're entirely clear on, though, is that it
wouldn't be an event in sudo room -- sudo room's new location is in the Omni
Commons <https://omnicommons.org>, which is a collective of collective.
Both the basement and the ballroom are common spaces. that's not to say
that sudo room wouldn't be involved, but it does mean that the best way to
go about seeing if the hackathon could be hosted at the Omni is to set
up a booking

Hi Lisha,
We have hosted a hackathon (http://magnitude.io/space-hackathon/) in the
combined sudo room / counter culture labs area before due to the timing
and existing events scheduled for the ballroom, and it worked out really
well. The calendar for sudo room itself looks totally clear over that
weekend except for a 5pm yoga event which i believe doesn't happen in
the room itself. I'm adding Mary Ward who graciously co-hosted the last
space hackathon on behalf of CCL to gauge their interest/availability.
I know the thread has progressed since Thursday but does anyone from
sudo room have objections to hosting this event in our space like the
one we had 3 months ago? We had about 40 folks then so we would still
want to get approval to use some space in other areas in the omni where
available to be prepared for the 50-100 participants.

Hi!
Sorry for my delayed reply. I took a much needed "weekend" in the middle of
the week on Wed-Thursday.
Here's the thing: If we only have space for 40 people, we'll bring in 40
people and be happy. If we have room for more, we'll certainly do our best
to fill up the space we're given and make it an awesome experience for
everyone there.
I've filled out the space request on the Omni Commons site as directed. I
haven't seen any response back from there yet, but I'm guessing that takes
time.
