sudoroom needs to pick a member to be the board member of the omni commons,
which is the organization that owns the building.
because of the way the omni commons is structured, its board is made up of
members of the member collectives.
we need someone (not me) to volunteer to fill this role, and that person's full
name will be recorded as a board member, and they will have to attend the board
meeting which might be boring. It is a legal requirement that the omni commons
board meets at least once per year.
We need to send someone for this right away since it's time to schedule the
meeting.
please volunteer.

yes different from the delegate. The delegate represents our organization's
position at delegate's meetings, and the board member is...a member of the omni
commons board, and goes to the board meeting.
anyway i'm the sudoroom delegate (until someone else wants to do it) and for
other reasons I can't be our board member.

In an ideal world, these would be the same, and "delegate" would just be
our synonym for "Omni board member". That way each delegate meeting is
essentially a board meeting, and whatever gets voted on there has legal
weight behind it. That is how the bylaws were originally designed, and why
we are using the same quorum for the delegates meeting as outlined in our
bylaws. Having to hold separate delegates meetings and board meetings
whenever any legal changes need to be made (like adding or removing member
collectives, or authorizing people to use the bank account) just doesn't
make any sense.
In practice, whomever is willing to have their legal name on paperwork and
whomever is willing to go to the delegates meeting might not be the same
person. If we wanted to do everything 100% by the book, the official board
member should give a proxy to whomever attends the board/delegates meeting
on their behalf.

Andrew, while I don't mind being replaced as a delegate (by someone ready to do
the job) this is unrelated to the issue of
we need a member to volunteer to be on the omni commons board right now
and acting as if these two issues are related is distracting from that.

FYI, Jake - just in case there was any confusion around this - there is
nothing legally preventing you from being the official Sudo delegate/board
member, while also serving as Omni president. Officers are not excluded
from serving on the board or vice versa.
