Tonight's meeting has morphed enthusiastically into a planning session
for this week's first friday / art murmur. In two days, we'll be at
the intersection of:
* Halloween / Day of the Dead / All Souls
* Sudoroom's first anniversary of moving into our current space
* Filing our corp papers in Sacramento
* Expanding to new spaces & new ventures
So we're going to throw a birthday party for ourselves on Friday
night. We're going to bill it as an Art Murmur afterparty from around
7pm to 2am. It will be advertised as having a fundraiser component
(donation pitches + raffle), but not as a fundraiser. The promotional
materials are being designed right now and we'll have them ready to go
viral by tomorrow morning.

* A/V STUFF - we have an awesome DJ lined up but need equipment
* CATERING - food/drink

Wow, stop looking at the listserv for a few days, and come back to this
intense planning energy.
As someone who's participated at many First Friday events on behalf of
Sudo Room, this sounds pretty awesome.
I was thinking about bringing my piano keyboard gear and setting up
outside again, to lure people in and get some busking money for Sudo
Room. If live music would be appreciated, I could play later inside as
well for a bit - though I don't imagine I'd be nearly as popular as DJ
Neon Leon, I can never tell how people respond. Just another option on
the table.

How about a silent auction, instead of a raffle?
There's some very specific things being offered here, and not everybody is
going to be interested in all of them. Otherwise the person hoping to win a
blacksmithing session may wind up with 4 hours of biohacking advice they
have no interest in, or vice versa.
You can of course do both: have a silent auction for the bigger, more
specialized prizes, and a raffle for the smaller or more generally
appealing prizes. So biohacking and blacksmiting could go in the silent
auction, but computer advice, or a coupon for dinner for two at some
restaurant could go into the raffle.
I have a couple small items I was planning to drop off at Sudo anyway:
- Bag of Guayaki loose leaf Mate (expired, but unopened)
- One of those pens that records whatever you're writing - forgot the brand
name

How about a silent auction, instead of a raffle?
There's some very specific things being offered here, and not everybody is
going to be interested in all of them. Otherwise the person hoping to win a
blacksmithing session may wind up with 4 hours of biohacking advice they
have no interest in, or vice versa.
You can of course do both: have a silent auction for the bigger, more
specialized prizes, and a raffle for the smaller or more generally
appealing prizes. So biohacking and blacksmiting could go in the silent
auction, but computer advice, or a coupon for dinner for two at some
restaurant could go into the raffle.
I have a couple small items I was planning to drop off at Sudo anyway:
- Bag of Guayaki loose leaf Mate (expired, but unopened)
- One of those pens that records whatever you're writing - forgot the
brand name
- A cardboard medieval clock

materials are being designed right now and we'll have them ready to go
viral by tomorrow morning.
