Anyone low income person you know who needs housing for 30% of their income
can apply for Sec. 8 until Tues at 11:59 pm. This happens once in 6 years
for this area. They will take 5000 applicants to be put on the wait list.
Last time they took 1500 out of 15,000 applicants. So maybe one in ten
chance in a lottery, maybe better. Do it on line.

Just be warned, however, that even if you are accepted, the wait time until you actually
get your housing will be VERY long. The waiting list is well up in the thousands.

Pre-applications can only be submitted online. Complete the pre-application
on-line at www.haca.net <http://www.haca.net/>by clicking on “Apply Now.”
The pre- application will be available in English, Chinese, Spanish and
Vietnamese.

The time it takes for the next opening of Sec. 8 applications (4-6 yrs.) is
indicative of the max. length of time of the waiting list. This sign up is
just to get in the lottery for which there will be 5000 taken. Last time
there was a 1 in 10 chance. "Then you are on the waiting list.
