Hey Gang!
The newly renovated theater in the Omni commons is presenting - The House of Bernarda Alba -
Would you like to go together?
So far about 5 of us have signed up.
I'm organizing this "Field Trip" because I think it would be fun for us to do something social together, and also as a way for sudo room to get to know our new neighbors and vice versa
Normally tickets are $40 and up. But they also have a policy of offering discounted tickets ($10) upon special request.
Here's my number (510) 809-5993 if you want to go
Preferably make arrangements in advance, but if you just show up on Thursday then I'm pretty sure we can work something out.

How about this week Tue, Wed, or Thu?
Can David or Matty make it (they each have a borrowed pico2-ice board)?
Or anyone else who managed to
apt-get install -y make python3 yosys nextpnr-ice40 fpga-icestorm micropython-mpremote
on a Debian/Ubuntu-ish box (VMs probably count)?

Hi Sudoers:
StrayCap Multispace (https://www.straycap.org/) in Hayward is gathering
up expired school system Chromebooks to convert to Linux; they’ve got
hundreds on hand at the moment. (See https://bit.ly/cbsave for background.)
We’re going to join forces with local Linux enthusiasts tomorrow
(Saturday May 9) noon-3pm for a combo Open House / ExChromebook
Installfest; we’ll work together to convert and reconfigure Chromebooks
into “ExChromebooks” while asking: how can we best re-purpose these in
our communities to improve digital literacy, digital sovereignty,
digital inclusion, digital equity?
You’re welcome to take some ExChromebooks home to experiment with or to
give to anyone else you know who could use one. (Fill out this Google
Form: https://forms.gle/zMJjTxmQPj8ZvaJ39) You’re also most welcome to
bring your repair projects to work on and get help with. Please RSVP at
http://bit.ly/inpersoncoachsignup so we can get a head count (select
"2026-05-09 USA-CA-Hawyard ExChromebook Installfest at StrayCap Noon"
from the pulldown menu.)
Feel free to bring your repair-inclined or tech-inclined friends, or
tell them about it, especially if they live in or around Hayward;
StrayCap's a half a block from the Hayward Main Library (and a seven
minute walk from Hayward BART.)
Hope to see you there, -Peter
Yes that's the current URL to join online. (We are looking for an alternative with lower latency since that Jitsi server is located in Finland, and sometimes the connection is poor.)
https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Meetings
The new meeting schedule is
Every second Thursday 19:00 (7 PM)Every last Sunday 16:00 (4 PM)
From past experience Sunday meetings have greater attendance. Sometimes the Thursday meeting does not happen due to lack of attendees.

Anyone going this Saturday or Sunday (5/30 or 31)? I'll be traveling the
whole June, so I'll get back about hosting in July!
Hi Juliana, as far as I'm aware the only weekend event we have right now

Hosting sounds great, did you have a particular idea in mind?

Friends -
I know it's kinda last-minute, but should we try to hold another
FPGA "class" (chaotic learning experience) tomorrow (Thursday) night?
I'm available.

Subject: [sudo-info] Re: Inquiry: 3-Day Workshop (Exodus Tour)
To the collaborators at Sudo Room,
I wanted to float this to the top of your inbox in case it got buried.
I'm reaching out to see if you might be open to co-hosting theExodus Tourin Oakland. We are bringing a series of hands-on workshops focused on leaving surveillance platforms and building community-controlled networks.
Are you open to a quick chat next week to discuss if this could be a good fit for your space? If not, no worries at all. In that case, please let us know so we can adjust our outreach list.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Warm regards,
Miliaku & Melanie

We're bringing the Exodus Tour to the United States and we're looking for community spaces to co-host a series of free, hands-on workshops.

On behalf of her, I am writing in hopes to collaborate on doing this workshop with you on September 25th to 27th. It is a 3-Day workshop.

Is there anyone going on weekends at sudo room? I looked at the
calendar and I dont see any event. I would like to visit sometimes but
I dont have time to go on weekdays. If anyone with access is going,
let me know if possible to coordinate my entrance.
Possibly, I'd be open to host on some weekends. It's kinda sad to have
the space closed when a bunch of people would have more availability
on weekends.
