are there any more working 8-foot-long fluorescent lightbulbs in omni? one of
the ones in the northeast corner of sudoroom has stopped working (the west one)
and the whole fixture is dark now.
of course we should migrate to another type of light in the future, but i think
we should use up all the fluorescent lights before we do that.
Hi ya'll I'll be in town from Wed Jul 26 - Jul 29 and will be bringing my sequencer, in case anyone wants to jam or hack :-D

Hey, all!
As many of you know, at my Saturday hackathons at Noisebridge I've been
working with @clairep and others on Pursuance -- *open source,
self-hostable, end-to-end encrypted task management software* to amplify
the efforts of activists, journalists, and nonprofits.
Pursuance was started by formerly-imprisoned journalist and activist
Barrett Brown, who went to jail for his crowdsourced journalism
investigations into Palantir and others (see https://www.thenation.com/arti
cle/strange-case-barrett-brown/ ) based on his going through of hacked
emails that had been dumped onto the internet, and we're building Pursuance
so people can more effectively and securely coordinate these kinds of
actions online as part of *a global federation of activist groups opposing
injustice*.
And as my 5MoF talk a couple weeks ago mentioned, we just started a
Kickstarter to fund the completion of the first major version that we're
building (I'm the architect and lead dev)! *We just reached our initial
goal of $48k(!)*, and there's some awesome stretch goals I'd love to get to
as well.
Anything you can do to spread the word would be appreciated. Thank you
much!

Hello Folks,
This is a time sensitive call to those that would like to pledge/donate to
make the Pursuance Project platform a reality.
According to the founder Barrett Brown and the leading programmer and
project manager Steve Phillips (a Noisebridge's member) they are building
encrypted platform to amplify the efforts of activists, journalists, &
nonprofits -- anyone fighting for social change.
What is needed right now? folks to pledge at:

At the time of writing this email the kickstart had $44,560 pledge of
$48,000.
The kickstart ends, very soon, on July 15th 12:26PM PDT.
If you are interested on learning more about the project, here is the

Thank you!
Daniel A.
p.s. I am just amplifying their call for help. I am not a member of the
Pursuance Project.
Hi all,
I'm sure some of you know Kal and/or have seen his awesome creations. If
you can spare a little to help him out, please do so.
thanks

Happy Summer!
Mine's a bit of struggle.
I am getting evicted from my studio, my home base and ground zero for 25
years.
So whaddya do?
Throw a fundraiser!
https://www.gofundme.com/save-kals-robots
I ran my studio as an experimental art/live space that housed and supported
over 100 other artists and activists. All with NO grants, no outside
support, no gallery sales and no renting to tech businesses. In 1995 when I
moved in the street was a dirt road and littered with abandoned cars and
homeless everywhere, prostitution rings and folks lurking to rob you.
It was the project that should have never worked: an artist supporting
artists by sharing below market rent.
Yet the 25 year run of people, events, exhibits are a testament to art over
commerce.
Now, like virtually all other artists in San Francisco, I'm getting
evicted.
I will keep making art.
I will keep supporting others who make art and are active for change.
Sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart for any support you can offer.
It has been a gift to share my space with so many amazing people. I’m
looking ahead to how I can keep doing this for the next 25 years.
ThankYou,ThankYou,TankYou!
Kal

We are especially in need of applicants with strong sales, mechanical, or
business administration skills. An interest in and commitment to
cooperative values goes a very long way.
To apply, please email a cover letter and resume. You are also welcome to
drop off a physical copy in-person. Please highlight relevant experience:
workers(a)missinglink.org
The Missing Link Bicycle Cooperative was started by a group of UC Berkeley
students in 1971 in the basement of the university's Student Union
building, and incorporated in 1973. Since the beginning we've been worker
owned. And more than 40 years later we're still here!
We come from various backgrounds of the cycling community: we commute, we
race, we tour. We also play other roles in our community since we are
parents, we are students, we are local residents. Ultimately, we all share
an appreciation for bikes, our craft, and the environment. Over the years
some of us come and go, but in the end we run this shop together.
“The Link” is a worker-owned and -run bike shop. All members are co-owners
who receive equal pay and vote at meetings. Member candidates are eligible
to be voted in as a worker-owner in the cooperative after working for 360
hours. Candidates perform best when demonstrating success or improvement on
multiple aspects of working at Link, including: sales, bicycle mechanics
and repair, business administration, cooperative participation, and
creative cooperation.
We're looking for candidates who have a good vibe, are interested in both
listening to and working with a range coworkers and customers. We're
looking for candidates that are emotionally equipped for retail, willing to
spend some of their time on the clock repairing bikes, and who seek a
long-term position. We are looking for someone who is interested in working
creatively and cooperatively with their coworkers and share responsibility
of collectively running a business. Previous experience in retail,
cooperatives, or the bicycle industry is a plus. There are many areas of
business administration performed by co-op members where other skills and
experience may be a plus, from accounting to graphic design.
Link is an inter-generational workplace, with member-owners in their
twenties through seventies. Link encourages women, people of color, and
members of the LGBTIQ community to apply. We are committed to Equal
Opportunity Employment (EOE).
Everyone at Missing Link is paid hourly, all candidates and temporary
employees are paid $17/hour. The wage is increased to $18/hour when
approved as a member-owner.
To apply, please email a cover letter and resume. If you have any
questions, feel free to email.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Customer service in-store and on the phone
Communicating with customers about bicycle products and usage
Selling and ringing out bikes, parts, clothing, accessories, and other
doo-dads

standards
Administrative tasks and roles (includes marketing, accounting, buying,
inventory, etc).
Working on bikes, tune-ups and repairs
Assembling new bikes to Missing Link standards
Energy to work on self-directed work in a collaborative environment
Other duties as needed

Participating in collective meetings and participating in decision-making
QUALIFICATIONS:
<3 Love of bikes and the people who ride them <3

you with this part!)

has anyone seen a stack of 12 or more identical 5v power supplies? like
variable-output metal-chassis style, in the range of 50 to 250 watts?
i thought there were a bunch of them at noisebridge but it's kindof far for me
to go look. I need them for testing these 12-series LiFePo battery banks.
i should mention that i will be using them at 3.6v not 5v, but i think 5v
supplies are appropriate and i will be able to fudge them down to 3.6 or so.
thank you

Hello,
We are writing in collaboration with our neighbor, Tony Coleman, and all of
OneFam in our fight against eviction. *Attached to this email is an
endorsement we hope the Omni will sign in support of OneFam and in
opposition to our eviction. *We are fighting for our right to stay in this
space, however it is important to recognize that the OneFam fight is about
a larger battle against displacement endemic in our community.
West Oakland is more than a collection of buildings. We are fighting to
save history. The famous traffic light is commemorated at 55th and Market
in North Oakland, but where is today’s equivalent of 1967’s 55th and
Market? Head straight south on Market and you wind up in the Lower Bottom,
OneFam’s neighborhood. A place that is not only steeped in Black Panther
Party history, and Black history going back a century, but remains a
predominantly Black neighborhood that currently experiences a great need
for many of the things that BPP fought for in the ‘60s.
OneFam started years ago with Bikes 4 Life. It has since grown to include
other spaces on the property: the 7th Street Revolution Cafe, a performance
and meeting space, and an outdoor events space where the historic Lincoln
Theater once stood. These locations host a wide range of community
gatherings, including music events such as weekly open mics and blues
nights. OneFam also has roots in the Oscar Grant movement and many meetings
happened in OneFam spaces.
The displacement of Black and Brown residents and businesses by more
affluent white residents is now the norm everywhere, including the once
vibrant 7th Street. OneFam is the last pre-gentrification business,
affectionately deemed “the last one standing” by some long-term West
Oaklanders. For over six months, OneFam has responded to hostility from the
landlord, who returned as the sole owner of the property after not being
around for years. Absence left OneFam and the other tenants to deal with
repairs, increasing cost of utilities and other results of neglect by
themselves. Now OneFam is being wrongfully evicted. OneFam is an amazing
organization that has been a part of this community but also has plans for
the future.
The goals of OneFam are as follows:
- Inspire community members to take part in politics by building a
social justice movement with a diverse mix of artists and activists
- Raise the consciousness of young people and turn them into local
leaders by creating a space for education and awareness about the issues of
their community.
We know that working together, we can push back against displacement and
ensure that OneFam is not just the “last one standing” but instead a
victory on 7th Street. Hopefully the first of many.
Very truly yours.
*P.S. If you or anyone you know would like to make a charitable donation to
OneFam, you may do so online through **www.tinyurl/save1fam*

tax-deductible*
