...which is most irrational and patently absurd, so if i ever do it myself, i sincerely hope i catch myself, cease, and desist (and 'catch myself' includes being caught: let's put the virtue -- the 'face' -- back into willing admission/self-correction of error). here's a philosophical hypothesis: it might all go back to the concept of 'usury' and the dominant concept of money. this might best be illustrated by an often mistranslated, or misremembered adage: *AMOR PECUNIÆ RADIX MALORUM* money is not the root of evil. * the love of money* is the root of evil. anyways, ff On Wed, Jan 18, 2017 at 9:23 AM, Sonja Trauss <sonja.trauss(a)gmail.com> wrote: > "our" side does this reasoning all the time. donation of vinyl cutter and rolls of vinyl

by Jake

attention sudoroom: do we want to accept a donation of a vinyl cutter which comes with a bunch of rolls of different colors of vinyl material? I know noisebridge has one but they also have a lot more space than we do. I understand the rolls of vinyl take up most of the space. he says the machine works but it uses a serial interface, and probably windows software. I think we could easily set up a computer to dedicate to it so it wouldn't be a barrier to someone who wanted to use it without going through a software oddysey first. i'm guessing it looks something like this: https://productrealization.stanford.edu/content/05-resources/02-processes/1… On Fri, 9 Dec 2016, Cory Albert wrote: > Jake: do you know of anyone active in the printed artist's spaces that I > Cory could donate a big roll of vinyl and vinyl cutters to for sign > making?

Am here at Hardware Hack Night; was here when Cory and Robb brought in the donated equipment. Jake also here and trying to figure out if cutter works and what adapter(s) and/or cable(s) are necessary to get it up and running. -- aaronco36 aaronco36@ -- http://www.fastmail.com - mmm... Fastmail...

Just a reminder: We have about 17 or 18 Asus Netbooks for this kind of projects (classes). Hilary, Max, and I installed Lubuntu on them about a year ago. Makerspace at Mosswood Park

by Rick Abruzzo

Hello Sudoroom, Jake Spaz mentioned there was some discussion on this list about the Makerspace and suggested I join so you can ask me questions directly. I'm going to include here the update I sent to the interested parties earlier today so you can have a clear idea of where we are at and what the current challenges are: Hey all, I wanted to give you an update on the Maker Space. Myself and Erin Burton, the director of Mosswood Park, were hoping to have access to 'the barn' by now but as it stands its still fenced off, even though its structurally sound. This is just to keep people away from the Rec center which is a burnt husk. I think first important step in building a proposal is getting a tour of the building and seeing what already exists and what we can do with it. Unfortunately Oakland DPW isn't promising access to the Barn till late March, mid April. Erin can enter it but she can't bring guests. Also I have made contact with Sudoroom and they have an open forum meeting the 2nd Wednesday of the month which I hope to attend in February to give a pitch. I have not heard back from Ace Toy Monster or Mothership Hackermoms. If you know anyone over there you can poke to see if there are members willing to contribute to the proposal or commit to a build out once the proposal is approved, that would be most welcome. Erin already mentioned the makerspace to DPW and they grumbled and said no. Erin says we should ignore this and I agree. Any DPW in any city in the world's main job is to say no, even if it doesn't draw from their resources because from their point of view any changes to anything single thing, even the changing of the wind, effects their resources. DPW isn't tasked on building a community, we are, so froward we march. If you have any suggestions on how to best utilize our time till we can gain access to the Barn, I'm open to suggestions. Thank you for your time and your patience, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. always, RICK! -- FIGMENT Oakland: oakland.figmentproject.org Oakland Awesome Foundation: awesomefoundation.org/en/chapters/oakland/ Dancehall of Beautiful Radiant Things: dancehallofbeautifulradiantthings.com Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Portfolio

Do we happen to have a pipe bender at Omni somewhere? Need to adjust some electrical conduit. Not absolutely required, but it'd look better with all the bends on the right places. .. Patrik
