Pilfer/Theft Proof Money Donation apparatus for Free Store (and Sudoroom)?

by Peter Mui

Hi Sudoers: Now that the Free Store has to pay rent: can we design some sort of donation apparatus for them that can accept money but is not easily pilfered? My initial thought is some sort of large free-standing but heavy plastic tube structure (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorade_box) but I'm open to other ideas. Bonus points: add some sort of fun sound as in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbEKAwCoCKw We could make these for sudoroom and the fabric and textile area too. Anyone else interested in working on this? -Peter

Sudoroom volunteers needed! for membership and nonprofit administration

by Jake Watters

Sudoroom needs people to volunteer for administrative tasks! Including the new nonprofit organization being formed, and more importantly, for communicating with members and reminding them (you) to pay your monthly dues! We also have a backlog of membership applications which need attention, formally approving those who have three endorsements and no blocks, and reminding the others to get one or two more endorsements so they can be complete. If you've been enjoying sudoroom but haven't applied for membership yet, now's the time! 1. join this list (if you haven't already) https://sudoroom.org/lists/postorius/lists/sudo-discuss.sudoroom.org/ 2. sign up for monthly payments at https://sudoroom.org/humans 3. apply for membership by answering three simple questions and getting three endorsements: https://sudoroom.org/membership -jake

Arduino 101 aka Intel Curie w/bluetooth

by Jake

I know where there a bunch of these, but they're a little bit deprecated. https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/13787 Does anyone think there's a good project that could be made with these things, that could be offered as a kit for people to build during a class at Sudoroom? Maybe some sort of music making thing, or an art piece that makes patterns onto an old monitor? It's a very powerful computer, in an arduino form factor. -jake
