La Commune's fundraising campaign is going really well. Thanks so much for
your support! Oakland's favorite commie bookstore is open Thursday through
Sunday, 12-6pm and will be extending those hours soon. We're getting a
great response from people in the neighborhood. So gratifying !

though:

So.
I spoke the alleged permissor, and according to them, the squatter indeed
lied about having been given the go ahead, and dropped their name by way of
a mutual friend or somesuch situation.
I'm also very glad to say, that my worries were hasty and misinformed.
The squatter in question is the bald and scruffled, 40-to-50-year-old black
man, who often hangs out on the exterior steps of the ballroom entryway.
It's unclear exactly how he got in, but what is clear is that we need to
step up our game by discussing all the ideas offered above.
Now I really am going to sleep.
I hope to dream that all of you are my familial elms, that our trunks are
made of space elevators, and that our roots are made of billions of
microscopic hedgehogs. And the hedgehogs are rowing canoes, of course.

If the situation is what I think, I feel we ought to give as much support
as we can to our friend.
However, I do think we ought to be strict on our tolerance level for abuse
of any kind; space, place, object, and of course person.
Perhaps a breakout session is due for anyone who isn't already aware of how
to deal with agressive or threatening people. Especially for lone
situations.
Perhaps we ought to even start spending ten mins of the delegates meeting,
revisiting the table of contents of our spankin new Conflict Resolution
guidelines, every few or four weeks?
And it's semi-off-topic, but this quote really snapped me out of some lame
situations,
"Theres never a good reason to light yourself on fire in order to keep
someone else warm".
Just food for thought.
Omni can be a place where everyone is welcome to exist, dance, hack, cook,
heal, build, etc. But if we don't feel comfortable and safe with each
other, that can't last long.
I dunno. I'm exhausted and gufflebrained, and I've lost my train of thought.

There appears to be some confusion about how to semi-permanently mark the
location of leaks, so that the roofer knows where on the roof to fix them..
In short, we need to mark an 'X' on the floor where the leak is. If you see
a leak, please quickly mark it on the floor - don't wait..
Buckets do get put out currently, but then of course, they get moved when
the rain stops - and so the info about where the leak originated on the
roof is basically lost, and then the roofer doesn't fix it, and it leaks
again..and so on and so forth.
I made the wiki page in the hopes that this SOP regarding leaks will spread
and remain persistent throughout the omniverse. .

Hey guys,
I'm planning on remediating a liability and building code issue with the
ballroom bench bench running into the middle of a small staircase leading
from the ballroom floor to the 'maintenance closet' in the SW corner of the
ballroom, by cutting down the length of this bench of the West side such
that the stairs are properly exposed.
All the bolts have been removed, but it is still affixed with either glue
or deeply embedded nails on the SW corner side, won't budge, and I need to
cut the very end off to remove it, but my Fein saw is gone and my skillsaw
is at home.. so it's still in place.
For the time being please do not sit on this bench and definitely leave the
'do not sit' signs up.
