I'm thinking maybe deposit equal amounts of this pile of trash (passive
aggressively dumped in from of a "No Trash Here Plz" sign!) in the middle
of each room of the building?
Seriously though - does anyone have any thoughts as to what to do about
this situation? I know I'm not the only person who has dealt with the trash
but seeing this only weeks after personally making a huge dump run puts me
right on the very border of freak out city.
I'm not making another dump run!!

rotate amongst all member groups.
Let's put that on the agenda for next weeks meeting but who will be first?

La Commune paid for the last dump run! (I was, of course, joking about
distributing the trash throughout the building, I just don't know what the
solution is and despite my attempts to not care, I do care.)

I also bought and installed a large roll of sisal (twine) and a box cutter
in the trash room to break down & bundle up cardboard so there is really no
excuse for those boxes being left like that.

I will be at Omni Sat morn and will look for
others to attack the pile with me. I can take it to recycle before 12.

New subject: [omni-discuss] Suggestions?
A shopping cart recycler stopped by the Omni Wednesday. It gave me the
idea that if we let a few of them know we often have recycling they may
be able to haul a lot of it away, freeing space in our recycling bins.

Excellent idea! If we had the forethought to know which glass bottles are
worth something and put them in a separate bin, they would very likely take
it off our hands!

We have a bin for exactly that purpose in CCL. It was originally intended
for the Fermentation Station, but I usually wind up having to dump it all
in the regular recycling anyway.

recycling. I'm not sure what happened with that.. but we've been trying to
find someone.

Hey all,
My friend Mark came today to get cardboard & glass, etc. He's a really sweet guy,
he's happy to leave things behind if people want specific bottles (just leave a sign
or something in the trash area.) He's very respectful, he used to pick up recycling
weekly at a restaurant I
worked at that closed down. He is also down for others coming to collect bottles, will not
be possessive of the task. As he said wisely, "it builds community." I
introduced him to a few people who were around and he is committing to come every Tues.
between 4-5PM with his truck.
Say hi, he's really chill and has amazing stories about his many years in the Bay
Area...and hopefully our recycling area will be a little more manageable.

It's not a biggie but I wonder if Mark would mind coming a day or two
before Tuesday, or better yet, twice per week? Only of course if that is
not an imposition. I say this cause I've noticed our recycling
usually overflows well before Tuesday (trash / recycling is
currently picked up weds. AM)
If he came twice per week I think that would really take care of us. If
that happened, it would be easier for us to dedicate bins
for 'pre-sorting', ie dedicate one bin for glass, another to cans etc.
because we wouldn't run out of space. Whereas since we currently do run out
of space in the bins, currently every bin gets filled with whatever type of
recycling will fit into it.
It also means we woukd get dedicated smaller bins around the building for
recycling specific things.

Or if Mark can only do one day a week, a day like Sat or Sun aft would be
ideal. That way a second recycling load could still get picked up Weds
AM too if need be, by Waste Management as is currently the case.
Since the main problem is bins are overflowing before Tuesday, and we don't
want to get yet more bins if we can help it, pickups twice a week one way
or another would be the ideal :)
